We've already been discussing and closely following all the news about Interlude over in the Axanar thread.
I've resigned myself that Trek fan films stick to starship battles...but I sure miss the body horror stories and the rampaging A.I. stories
I really hope Alec's acting has improved since New Voyages "Going Boldly and Axanar: Heroes. That expression/grimace in the first shot is cringe.
As much as I hate Axanar and Alec, I do like the design of the Ares and that Bridge set. Though the Ares really doesn't fit the time period. It's set Pre-TOS Connie launch, but it has TOS Movie-era style hull panelling/aztecing, bridge dome, phaser emitters and deflector dish. Only thing close to the Connie aesthetic are the nacelles and pylons.
I genuinely don't get the whole "true Trek" angle when most Axanar ships are from the background of the Kelvin Universe, and the bridge set is all touchscreens just as anachronistic with what we see in TOS as Discovery.
Even Discovery kept some physical buttons and switches and didn't scrap them completely. The DSC Connie bridge had even more buttons and switches, including gumdrop buttons donated by the Starflee Tour team (aka the New Voyages TOS set)
True, but even with the links to Axanar, we should talk about Interlude as its own film here? Using the style of the Space:1999 opening didn't do the trailer any favours! Even though it's mainly pew pew pew, the music just jars! And I say that as a Space:1999 fan! I've said this elsewhere, I saw "Going Boldly" before I became aware of what was transpiring with Axanar. And yet Peters acting in that doesn't jar with me, even to this day. It might not be great, but it's not like here, or that shot of a bug eyed stare at a simulator window?
Honestly, I thought the 1999-themed trailer was kind of fun. Just something a bit different for a change. Whether or not the film is any good remains to be seen, naturally.
He's there, his character is part of the story, and there's no sign of the more angry Peters we've seen in various videos when he is smacking down the 'haters'. it's like, to me, even knowing all the story, in "Going Boldly" I'm thinking "this is the guy that caused all this tension and a lawsuit?"
It was your use of "jar" that threw me; "doesn't jar wit me" reads to mean "doesn't clash/contrast with me".
