I wonder if networks could air older seasons of shows currently on their cable counterparts (NBC has SyFy and USA) or if that would be a ratings disaster. Then again, Swamp Thing is already on disc and CW is still going to air it.

Interesting. I think I could see more networks buying up foreign productions to air while they wait to be able to produce new content.

I'm not completely sure, but I think that's how Flashpoint came to be on CBS.

NBC aired the first season of Saving Hope.

ABC aired Global's Combat Hospital as a broadcasting partner, and when ABC decided they didn't want a second season, Shaw Media had to cancel it.

Ahh, that's right. I'd completely forgotten about that. I think that currently we're in a similar situation with programming as with the writer's strike in terms of how things are being affected. I think it only makes sense to look to other resources when new shows can't be produced. Quite a bit cheaper too, buying something that's already been produced.

Does BBC America still hold the broadcast rights to L&O:UK? AFAIK they haven't aired it in years, and more recently their schedule seems to consist of lots of movies or day-long reruns of various skiffy shows (Doctor Who, TNG, DS9, X-Files).

There are a number of Canadian shows that could enjoy a resurgence Stateside, such as Murdoch Mysteries, Corner Gas, Carter, Cardinal, and many more. And with the end of Schitt's Creek, it becomes a more viable an opportunity.

They might also be canceling their entire format. It's being reported that they're moving away from original scripted series in exchange for unscripted programming.

Probably. Most of them were adaptations of the US episodes but it's probably been long enough for people to forget. There's a bunch of stuff on British crime drama TV shows that I think would work well over here.

It still bugs me that the original Law & Order was cancelled. As much as I love to develop characters, the formula worked and never got stale.

It was canceled for L&O LA. That's what really gets me. I still don't get why NBC decided to do an SVU spinoff instead of bringing back just L&O. Even with all new characters.

Tommy had such a great pilot but then it stared to SUUUUUUCK.

Tuca & Bertie has been rescued by Adult Swim and has received a ten-episode order for its second season!

This is the second excellent series that Netflix prematurely canceled that was rescued by another network (after One Day at a Time).
