Please oh Shai Hulud don' let Kevin J DuraplasmAnderson and the Abomination have anything to do with this.
Indeed. Heretics and Chapterhouse especially aren't that good at all.the original Dune series was of...um... descending quality starting with Dune itself (which is a masterpiece) and ending with Chapterhouse Dune (barely readable).
It probably means they're getting a check. I'd be more concerned about the writers and showrunners.Too bad for you.
Brian and KJA are producers (Brian as an EP and KJA as a Co-Producer)
These are two talent-less hacks that have been squeezing gold out of Frank Herbert's corpse for years, for some reason still claiming they've been using the miraculously endless series of notes the old man left in a bank deposit box that no one knew about until someone needed a new book deal. Wish I'd thought of that.
...aaaaaand they lost me.Synopsis: An adaptation of Brian Herbert
and Kevin Anderson's book
Precisely so.I find I'm much happier since I stopped paying attention to anything they do with Dune. The originals are masterpieces and no amount of additional hackneyed crap is going to change that.
...aaaaaand they lost me.![]()
Whaaaa...?!I never even read sisterhood of dune. I tried, oh how I tried, to read the new novels. I got as far as Paul running away from home to join the space circus and that was my breaking point.
Whaaaa...?!
So is this some kind of alternate history thing?
But...how?!
Also...why?!
Never even picked it up. I read the first three prequels which were OK, I guess (by the standards of average science fiction literature, not that of FH's books.) I also read the 'Butlarian Jihad' books because I liked the world and wanted more on the background...though it quickly became apparent that those two just didn't have the chops for it and the patterns of hackneyed writing that was merely bothersome in the prequel trilogy was on full display in the pre-prequels.I never even read sisterhood of dune. I tried, oh how I tried, to read the new novels. I got as far as Paul running away from home to join the space circus and that was my breaking point.
I'm willing to give it about 10 mins of the first episode. If it gives me Pinky & The Brain vibes, then I'm out and not looking back. Life's too short to keep hoping something will get better in execution just because the basic concept has potential.Precisely so.
With that said, I think the Bene Gesserit are among there more interesting facets of the Dune universe so I would be interested to give it a shot.
