I had a weird thought, how would Julia Pennyworth work for picking up the mantle. Like for some reason Kate is put on a bus and then bring in Julia as BW but not as Kate. She would seem to have the chops.
I would assume they mean superhero series.

Would also point out that Ellen and her tv show character were both in the closet initially.
Rose and Kate Kane were both out from the get go.
And personally I think the replacement for Ruby Rose should simply be treated as Kate Kane as if she'd been there from the get go.
no face swaps, no twisted theories.
Just pretend she's never changed because frankly it would add nothing to the story.
On Twitter, Alaina Huffman volunteered herself to be the new Kate. She already played Dinah “Black Canary” Lance on Smallville.
Apparently Stephanie Beatriz from Brooklyn Nine Nine has hinted as well.
That would be ironic, as Rachel Skarsten played another version of Dinah Lance on Birds of Prey.
I could kinda see Huffman working, but at 40 she might be a bit old for the role.
Not gonna happen since the producers only want an LGBT actress for the role of Kate and Alaina doesn't fit that criteria.
I wonder if Arrow alum Bex Taylor-Klaus would be interested in the role, especially now that Deputy has been cancelled.
As long as she uses Rosa's voice, not her natural one, I'm good with that.
I'm picturing everyone having to google each candidate to see if they are worthy of praise or outrage.
It might be a while before we hear anything. I'm guessing they'll want to do chemistry reads, and who knows how long it'll be before they can do those. Plus, I suspect they might want to include Melissa.

That's sad to hear. It's Genevieve Bujold on Star Trek: Voyager all over again, although this time it took them more than a year to figure it out.
This is quite shocking and so very disappointing. I thought she made a strong Kate/Batwoman, who was really shaping the role to be her own. Batwoman is my second favorite CW-DC series, so this is a blow to the chemistry its built.
That would not work at all--especially if they mean Alice takes over the role (as if there would be any believable way Luke would accept that).

In my experience, "Unnamed sources" are not always reliable and often fueled by agenda. I would like to see other, more reliable sources come forward before buying the idea that Rose was difficult to work / get along with and the production was happy to show her the door.
Yes, a Straight actor could very easily play the role, but the producers have chosen to make the role exclusive to members of the LGBTQ community... which is both entirely reasonable and entirely their prerogative.
I think the idea is the actress would play the part, maybe doing double duty with Alice as needed, same as if they recast the role with another actress now except it'd be a familiar face.
