I like four of the final five. I really, really hope Michele doesn't slide in and get the spite vote again.

The theory of Natalie coming back in and winning is also looking like a pretty strong possibility now with her three advantages, food and idol. And she would definitely get the votes so all she'd have to do is win some challenges.

Agreed. Right from the get-go, as soon as I knew who the cast was, I wanted Natalie to win.

If she doesn't make it back in, I want Denise to win.

    No.

As per Jeff Probst's introduction, the length of the finale means that this will be the first season of the show without a Reunion.

They have to reveal the winner somehow though.

And they will... via Zoom and a hand-built set in Jeff's garage.

My wife and I were pleased with the winner this season. :techman: The garage reveal sucked, though.

    I was not pleased.

So they think there's going to be a Survivor season this fall? I really can't fathom how there could be. And which country would seriously allow it? The only region of the planet where there haven't been any cases is Antarctica, and the only other place would be the International Space Station.

One of the benefits of being on a desert island is that if everyone (contestants and production staff) is tested and are clear, then there is little chance of outside contamination during the show.

I was satisfied with the ending. He played the most dominant game up until the last few days. And although Natalie fought hard, and by the rules deserved to be there, I don't think it's fair to let somebody come back in right at the end with an idol.

All they have to do is test all the contestants and crew before moving them there and then they can have a completely closed environment. I hope they pull it off, it may be the only thing on TV in the fall.

Whether this makes Tony the G.O.A.T., I'm not sure. He played the best game this year but there are also other players with a potential claim to G.O.A.T. who started out behind because they were seen as bigger threats. For Tony to convince me he's better than Rob, he'd need to go into a season being the obvious biggest target and still win.

I've also been wondering if they could do a Big Brother season just by totally isolating the crew. Probably won't try though.

Except that some of the reward challenges involve leaving to go elsewhere, either to resorts or orphanages or schools.

The "loved one" reward wouldn't be able to happen unless the loved ones were quarantined for the entire time - not practical for most of them.

And I'm not sure if any of the production staff are allowed to leave, or come and go, but this time they wouldn't be able to.

Finally, they would have to forego sending the jury to Ponderosa, as that's a resort with numerous staff.

This adds up to a lot of people who would have to quarantine for much longer than 14 days.

Why not? She didn't cheat, and she played one hell of a game. But it's like Rob said: she should not have let Tony into the final 3.

And they'd have to test the families/friends, unless they plan to drop the 'loved ones' visit, and not have rewards that take the players off the island or bring anyone else in. Admittedly that would be more in keeping with the earlier seasons when a reward was a slice of pizza instead of a luxury holiday that would cost the average person $$$ or even $$$$.

That would probably be more doable, since the house guests are totally isolated anyway and have very little physical contact with the tech crew.

They could have a separate living arrangement for the production crew, since this all takes place on a studio lot, anyway.

The only problems I can see is that they wouldn't be able to have extras in the house like past contestants hosting competitions, nor would they be able to take anyone out until they'd been voted out. And they would need to rethink the mansion where they put the jury.

But probably the real roadblock would be Julie Chen not being able to sashay around in front of a studio audience in whatever insanely expensive dress she decided to wear that night.

Somehow I can't see her doing the Thursday night live evictions from her garage...

Exactly, she didn’t cheat, but she was handed a major advantage nobody else got. She didn’t have to survive all the twists and turns of the mid game.

All they’d have to do is not have a loved ones visit and not take them in contact with outside people. It’s much easier to quarantine a production crew for 39 days in the South Pacific than for 100 days in LA.

The people who were never on Extinction didn't have to survive all the twists and turns and absolutely grueling challenges of that place. She did better than Rob did in some of those, and Sandra quit, rather than try to tough it out.

It's not like Natalie sat on the beach for 30+ days sunning herself. Whatever she had, she earned fair and square.

She had the most opportunities to win Fire tokens. And where was Denise and Ben’s chance to play back in?

If Natalie has been voted out at 9 or 10 instead of first she would have had fewer advantages going in and no chance to buy an idol if she needed one. She benefitted from failure.

She had more opportunities than anyone else for no reason other than she played the worst at the start.

I have to ask: Would you be this outraged if Tony had been voted out first of his tribe and Natalie had stayed?

You have to know that at this level, many of the votes were not based on bad gameplay, but rather that they wanted to get rid of people who were too good at some aspect of the game and they were being voted out while there was an opportunity.

Denise and Ben didn't get to play to get back in because that's not how the game is designed. It's like the last person to join the jury doesn't get to be pampered at Ponderosa. It might seem unfair, but it's a tradeoff.

Natalie is just one hell of a good player, and I have no idea why you can't stand that.

Survivor will film as soon as the crew and contestants are allowed to safely fly into Fiji, which could be the end of June if the country's Prime Minister doesn't extend flight restrictions.
