Could the Doctor be a horse?

I'm a doctor, not a camel!

You could place a mobile emitter on a projection of Superman to get out of the desert (or Captain Proton, assuming there was a hologram programmed to play that part, since Tom was usually the one portraying Proton) or the Rocketeer!

I know what you mean, there have been a few instances in Trek books- in Voyager's case, mostly during the 2-part Homecoming & Farther Shore- where I've been left with some big questions.
For instance (potential spoilers ahead)
one part about how Janeway was glad that, conveniently no questions had been asked by Starfleet about her involvement with a known holographic-rights terrorist, because they didn't ask just how it was she was able to slip past security. How convenient!

Nonetheless, I did enjoy the fact that the aforementioned 2-parter picked up where the finale had left off, even if Neelix had been disappointingly absent from the story.

Kind of hard to squeeze Neelix into those books..though you could have had an epilogue with Neelix on his colony. The climax could be something that eventually we dealt with in Full Circle etc.. this assumes such long range planning for Treklit though. Not sure how much of that goes on.

Could the Doctor be a horse?
That's rather Personal don't you think? He's already told us he made himself fully functional, I don't think this question should be asked by anyone not "Close enough" to him to find out for themselves.

Hey hey hey, I'm assuming (which makes an ass out of.. yeah yeah) that though the Doctor may be photonically challenged as far as turning his whole body into something swift that carries passengers he has made sure he has complete control of at least one part of himself and can program that part at will. That's why he's such a smug bastard because even though no one is "close enough" to know this he knows it. It's his secret superiority.

I bet there were encrypted files with special scenes during Tinker Tenor Doctor Spy that we never saw.

Centaurs are creepy!

But now I need a photoshop of the Doctor, bare chested, as a centaur with his best supercilious expression.

Have a drawing!

Brilliant!!

Imagine this conversation in a possible TV episode:

Dude: Isn't it something in your program which can make you turn yourself into a horse and carry me out of here?

The Doctor: Wrong hologram. Besides that, I'm a doctor, not a donkey.

Dude: But I'll die here if you can't help me!

The Doctor: Hmmm. Ok then!

The Doctor then turns himself into a centaur and set off through the wilderness with the dude on his back and in the background we hear this song:

"I've been through the desert on a horse with no name
It felt good to be out of the rain
In the desert you can remember your name
'Cause there ain't no one for to give you no pain
La, la..."

If the Dude could be McCoy, he could be the one to call the EMH a jackass. :guffaw:

I was reading The Eternal Tide (no spoilers in this thread) and at one point the Doctor and some dude have a 2 hour walk ahead of them through a desert. The Doctor is saying they might not make it in time because HE can keep up a pace and not tire but the dude according to the Doctor's scans is not at peak physical shape and will be slowing them down before they are halfway there.

Why couldn't the Doctor just program his photons into a horse.. or a dune buggy and take the frail human for a very fast ride to their destination?

Hello, I'm Dr. Ed.
