DC Movies - To Infinity and Beyond

Well, I guess we're going to find out one way or another if it's too early soon as some states are starting to reopen.

Yep, it seems that people dying are less important than keeping business moving. Watch the numbers spike in those States in the coming weeks. Not conjecture--look at what's happening in other countries.

... What's happening in other countries that we should be looking at?

I heard a story the other day that a city in... I think it was Japan, opened up, and within a day or two their Covid-19 cases sky rocketed.

That's not even how covid works... it would take a minimum of 5 days (the average incubation period) for any change to be noticeable...

There was the situation when China re-opened cinemas and shut them down again the following week because of a new spike in infections.

To quote a Facebook meme, saying "Social distancing has slowed the spread so we can go back to normal now" is like saying "The parachute has slowed my fall so I can take it off now."

Germany is in the news this week. They relaxed social distancing and cases started again. China's cases started again as well as people returned to the country. Here in Canada, the provinces that implemented social distancing regulations and enforced them under Emergencies Acts with strict fines (and yes, this supercedes our Charter of Rights) quickly got control of the outbreaks--whereas cases skyrocketed in Ontario and Quebec which were slow to implement legal action.

I have never heard of that website. Nor have I ever seen Kiersey Clemons in anything. So it’s not based on any opinions of her or her work - it would not surprise if they are considering recasting.

Why? She was not in the final release. No audience connection to her as the character at all. We are dealing with completely different film makers. They may have a new take on Iris as a character. Plus never forget this is Hollywood. They are going to go with a new young fresh face. Or the opposite some familiar name to build up hype. Considering how long this has been in limbo, I suspect the later. Casting notices often go out and lead to name actors getting the roles. Fans often assume that leads to casting unknowns. But it notifies agents that they are looking for certain types. Which can lead to known people too.

Anybody familiar with a site called 'The Illuminerdi", or a journalist Caitlin Tyrrell, are they credible? Because they claim that WB has put out a new casting call for Iris West in The Flash movie, apparently seeking to replace Kiersey Clemons.
I first encountered "The Illuminerdi" recently when they posted an article about casting calls for the forthcoming Superman & Lois TV series. I noted at the time that story didn't have the smell of clickbait about it, and some of its details seem already to have been borne out.

I'd tend to believe this article. Its account of the casting call info sounds like the kind of description that generally appears in those things. And since Clemons ended up being cut out of Justice League entirely, it's not even a recasting in the usual sense. Personally, though, I would have liked to see what she would have done in the role.

Or it could just be that Clemons is too busy with other commitments. According to IMDb, she's the female lead in at least two movies currently in pre-production, including a post-apocalyptic Zorro remake, of all things. It's no surprise that if a production is delayed, the cast and crew would go on to do other things and might not be available anymore.

I was half-kidding, but I notice the new casting call is for "an actress 21-25 years old", and Clemons just turned 26 in December, so ...

One of the silver linings of film production being put on hold is that maybe some good time can be put into refining the scripts and really working things out properly before the craziness of production starts.

New Gods will only be the better for it, I'm looking forward to it even more now I think!
