I know that lots of people aren't big fans/really don't like Kelvin-verse ST films. There have been rumors that the 4th Kelvin-verse film is set to be directed by Noah Hawley, but there's been no official confirmation that this movie will revolve around the Kelvin crew.
Personally, I loved ST09. Pretty spot-on casting, and a clever (if slightly clichéd) way of bringing Star Trek into a new era. ST:ID I didn't like quite as much, mainly because of the ending. (Magic rejuvenation blood? seriously? Doesn't that mean that they can bring anyone back from the dead?)
In my opinion, Beyond was good. not great, but good. There were good parts about it, but it felt a bit forced.
Anyway, my question is this -
Should they leave TOS alone and ditch the Kelvin timeline altogether, or continue to make Kevin movies?

I see no reason whatsoever why a new Star Trek film would need to take place in the Kelvin timeline. As much as I enjoyed those films, they only existed because Paramount wanted to make films in their own Trek universe. But nobody knew that a bunch of shows would later be produced in the allegedly 'prime' universe. Now with the merger, shows like Discovery, Picard, Section 31, Lower Decks, Prodigy, _______ (fill in the blank), etc. are the focus now. Setting a new movie in the Kelvinverse or any other alternate universe would just be needlessly convoluted. Plus, genre movies these days tend not to stay in any one continuity for very long.

The Kelvinverse had three films, and they rejuvenated interest in Star Trek. They did their job, and there's really nothing more we need from them.

I loved the Kelvin universe characters very much and would definitely like to see them on another adventure. Even if they do cut corners and the Enterprise-A looks just like the Discoprise inside.

The Discovery characters are slaves to canon. Pike ends up in the wheelchair, Spock does Kolinahr etc. In the Kelvin universe, anything can happen. Pike was killed by Khan, Spock's mother and entire world was wiped out (and in the future Romulus may be saved), Praxis blew up already and there was no Klingon-Federation war... they can really go nuts if they want.

A big Yes from me! :)

I love me some Kelvin timeline adventures - and I’m absolutely wanting to see the Enterprise 1701-A in action!

Saddestmoon turns to Helm:

‘Set in a course for the Kelvin timeline and engage that Red Matter forthwith!’

If Beyond is the direction they wanted to go with it, then Nay from me...

That being said, I'll watch ANY Star Trek at least once. Maybe if they got JJ Abrams to come back and direct. But I'm pretty sure that's just a pipe dream now... :(

I say yay... but.. only if its a Yesterdays Enterprise/Generations/Days of Future Past/Endgame event type deal where they'll crossover with the Prime-verse

Another random Kelvin adventure like Beyond?.. not so much

Augment platelets can heal damaged tissue, but not restore rotten corpses ;)
More like real world blood and platelet therapies than most Trek medicine.

To the OP I would love more Kelvin Trek. It is an interesting take on the world of Trek and a place to expand upon the lore, while perhaps being willing to try something different.

I'd love at least one more to give more closure to the characters and take a bit more advantage of the potential.

However, they need to hire someone who is truly inspired to tell stories with this version of the characters.
I don't care if the director is an old trek fan.

I must be one of the few who doesn't care about a prime Pike series. I'm sick of doomed by canon prequels and the inevitability of retcons. I know how it ends. They even made it worse by making Pike know how it ends (can I just say that I hated that? said it). It's depressing because anything good that may happen is doomed. Pike ends bad. After all his character development thank to his sister, Pike and Number one, Spock will still have regression thus become Nimoy's Spock thus someone who preaches his delusions about being vulcan and rejects his human side, again.
Number one and possible original characters would be the only ones giving me hope, but you know the show would be mostly about Pike and Spock.

The section 31 show and the possible starfleet academy one are better ideas for me since (if) they involve original characters for the most part.

I myself felt that they all got closure as soon as the new Enterprise-A warped away. :)

I also have no interest in a Pike series, or really any prequel series at all. I've always thought prequels were bad ideas, and there's nothing I've seen that has convinced me to change that feeling. If these shows were simply a reboot of the TOS universe, that would be so much better, since, like the Kelvin universe films, they would not have to be beholden to 50+ years of Star Trek canon & continuity. Instead, they are shoehorned in, create all kinds of retcons, and the characters aren't remotely believable as the same ones from TOS.

I have even less enthusiasm about the Section 31 show as I do about the possibility of a Pike show. I'm so done with this 'ten years before TOS' bullcrap. That's why I'm cautiously optimistic about DSC season 3.

I wouldn't mind a movie set in the Discover / Picard continuity, but would prefer Trek to stay on TV, which is it's true home and best fit.

A movie would cost as much as a season and give us a lot less Trek on our screens for the outlay.

I wouldn't mind a 4th Kelvin film. My wife and I have been watching them (we should watch Beyond tonight), and rediscovering their charm.

Its kind of obvious it doesn't really need saying and might be very simplistic but its abit like there a 2 types of Trek fans of the Kelvin films (including the writers, studio etc) - those that wanted the Kelvin films to veer off into their own thing/rebooted continuity, no Khan/Borg etc, little to no reference of the Prime-verse potentially all new stuff etc (sort of what Beyond did albeit in kind of reimagined feel of TOS). And those that wanted to continue with the heavy references to the Prime-verse especially the movies (abit like TDK trilogy in redoing the joker, catwoman etc) and were quite happy with (most of) STID and wanted the Orci ST3 and were loving all the Tarantino rumours.

In a way its abit similar to TOS/TNG back in the 90s, some fans (and certain writers/Berman) wanted TNG to go it alone little to no reference to TOS and those that wanted more (and got it later with the likes of Unification/VI, Relics, Generations etc)

Would be perfectly happy to see another.

I'd also like to see the Tarantino film - or any good Trek film for that matter.

I'm curious what the other script for Beyond would've been. IIRC, it was without a villain.
The two unmade stories I know of had villains. One was the Enterprise, a Vulcan ship and unknown aliens (the baddies, and they flew their ships from comfortable sun loungers) all chasing an artefact with the power to restore Vulcan, and the other was Romulans activating and using a Doomsday Machine and using it against the Federation.
