Dune 2018 (19,20,21...)

My vote is for fake. The thumper is exactly like the ones from Lynch's Dune, and I highly doubt the new movie doesn't feature a new design.

I’m going with fake. Partly for reasons stated by others, but also because it’s beyond vague. It’s not flashy enough to capture anyone but fanboys attention, the same fanboys who know exactly what they’re looking at. It does nothing to elicit interest from the general populace not in the know. As cliche as it would’ve been, a sand worm coming up roaring would’ve done the job.

Considering I haven't seen io9 or A.V. Club report on the teaser leads me to think it's a fake. If it was real, it would've been vetted by now and reported as such.

Potential leaked teaser:

I don't know of it that's real or not but

1) If it is real that got me excited. That's the tone I want for Dune!

2) If it's fake, damn whomever made it really hit a Villeneuve vibe and made it feel real

"Do we have wormsigns Stilgar?" - "We have wormsigns the likes of which even GOD has never seen!"

I don't care if it's fan made but it is brilliant as a teaser. Fans instantly know what this is and what it signifiies and non fans will react to the chilling, foreboding music together with the image to know that something badass will happen soon.

Honestly i can't wait to see the first full trailer much less to sit in the theater at premiere night and be (hopefully) blown away :D

I'm in the "It's a fake" camp. Not only is the thumper the same but Lynch's worms are related to electric eels.

I always took that as some kind of massive electro-static discharge and/or piezoelectric effect that came from the friction and pressure of all that sand being displaced. Not something the sandworms themselves were producing.

I just took it as some cheesy lightning effect like you saw in just about every 80s scifi movie.

I wouldn't say it's pouring out. One pic and a logo today. Tomorrow some more pics/interviews (hopefully a teaser). Fairly standard marketing:shrug:. The just had very few leaks, unlike every other major film production. Filming in the middle of the desert instead of a major metropolis probably helped with that.

I'd be interested in this film if it didn't star Timothée Chalamet. I'm not a violent person but there's something about his smug face that makes me want to smash a brick into it whenever I see him.

Well... Ok.

He definitely has a pretentious, better than you look about him. But he is French so....

I've no idea why women go gaga over him. And he's way too skinny for Muad'Dib (yes, Paul is "small for his age" but he's also in an intensive daily workout and combat training regime for, like, his entire life). But I haven't seen enough of his acting to judge if he can do the role or not. Villeneuve impressed me with the performances he got out ofBautista and Gosling in Blade Runner so I have faith.

For what it's worth I think Alec Newman nailed the role in the Children of Dune miniseries.

Yeah but its gone from might be a thing at some point in the future to actually a thing that might come out in December.

I like the logo a lot, but I'm rather indifferent to the picture. There's nothing bad about it, but it doesn't really show us anything that interesting.

I can't help but think a big factor in if this film will suck or not is going to come down to how long it is, becuase they are trying to adapt a frickin door stopper here.

They split it in two, which means they'll have about the same amount of time as the mini had, more if they want to push it. Although with how long it took to make part 1 Chalamet may be old enough to play Miles Teg by the time the sequel comes out.

I'm curious if this is popular enough to continue beyond the first book, if they're going to split any of the others.
