I'll start this one -
What would you prefer to see - a reboot of TOS set in the Kelvin timeline, or a spinoff of Discovery featuring Pike, Spock and Number One? (same actors as in DISCO)
I have been discussing this with my friends, and we can't agree, so in a moment of indecision, I turn to an online forum.
I'm aware that neither of these series are likely to ever happen, I'm just curious to see people's opinions.
Personally, I think that a TOS reboot could go either way. If they did shorter versions of something like Beyond, or re-introduced some villains that came onto the scene later in the Prime timeline, like the Borg or Q, (a bit like in the Boldly Go comic books), I think I might enjoy it, especially if they made episodes that were similar to TOS, but had a Kelvin-fueled twist to the plots (like the Kirk/Spock switch in Into Darkness)
On the other hand, if they turned it into a gore fest, I wouldn't like it as much. I'm also a bit tired of the Kelvin timeline overall.
A Discovery spinoff with Spock, Pike and Number One would be fun, but I'd be worried that they'd get caught up in prequelitis - being so preoccupied in honoring canon Star Trek that they wouldn't make a good series.
Also, I really liked Mount's Pike, but I didn't really like Peck's Spock.
Anyway, tell me what you think.

i would watch a spinn-off where everything are set at the planet Risa.
something like if Fantasy Island and DS9 had a baby sort of thing...
I wanted Lwaxana to run the place, with Quark, so that dream is only possible in an alternate reality,
which means, it's already been made, and it was a huge success!

Or how about we just leave a timeless classic alone?
But if not, then don't just take the name and mess around with everything else.
TOS was at its best when it showed an optomistic future alongside the dangers and wonders of deep space exploration and first contact, and how improved (but still imperfect) Humans face that head on and try to protect, survive and grow. Any new TOS should have that at its heart. No technobabble, no near constant "navel searching", no edgy evil secret Starfleet organisations, and definitely no mutineers as heroes.
Yes, bring in a couple of ongoing story arcs, but intersperse them with one offs. But dont make the arcs just around the people, but rather a mystery, a threat that grows from just seeming to be a minor issue in the first episode, but quietly grows until it becomes almost overwhelming.
Oh, and don't set it on the Enterprise, but rather another Starship - a new set of crewmembers facing the unknown - space is big enough for plenty more heroes after all.

I'd like the option "neither" please...

I think Uhura said it best in "THE NAKED TIME".

"Sorry, neither."

Not a fan of the Kelvin-verse, but I did REALLY love BEYOND.

I like DISCOVERY, and really loved Mount's Pike and Romijn's Number One. Peck did okay as Spock.

I would truly rather see an era that has not been touched, like 25th century onward. But if we must do a prequel, then make a TNG prequel. There's 70+ years of galactic events we don't know about, only heard whispers here and there.

Nothing is known about the Enterprise-B except what happened on her maiden voyage. And we only know the ending of the Enterprise-C.

We can only speculate that the Betreka Nebula Incident between Cardassia and the Klingons happened during this time, but we know it lasted years.

The Stargazer was in service at that point, and with Picard in command for over 20 years, he definitely had a lot happen in that time.

The Tomed Incident that led to the Treaty of Algeron happened in this era.

And we could see the later careers of Uhura and Chekov, as well as further adventures of Captain Sulu.

We can see just how some worlds become part of the Federation... the Bolians, Betazoids, etc.

There's a reason why the books call it 'The Lost Era'. It's a treasure trove of adventures and stories just waiting to be told.

Of the two..... Pike-show.

But, I would much rather see a show set around 2310/2320.

I have no interest in anything related to the Kelvin timeline/universe. However, I do want a Pike series, so that one gets my vote. :)

Neither for me, though sure, I'd watch either. I would much prefer moving forward post-Picard.
