OK, can someone on this thread please remind me what part of the embed code I need to use to post pics from my Flickr account in this thread? I only share pics from Flickr rarely. so I forget the process every time. I thought I'd bookmarked a TrekBBS post that explained it, but damned if I can find it right now. If I have the instruction as a comment in this thread, I can always go back and consult that. Thanks!

Here's a revision of the Kirk Academy pic. I eliminated the sleeve stripes, replaced the Starfleet delta with the Academy emblem that Finnegan wore in "Shore Leave", added some shadows underneath Kirk's sleeves, and darkened the pants slightly to eliminate some of the photo grain.
I'd love to get the sparkly pattern that Finnegan's shirt had in "Shore Leave", but the original photo is so grainy, that I'm not sure it'd read very well.

Maybe I'll attempt tinting this one sometime down the road. It'd be neat to try and achieve a color version.

And here's my hypothetical look at Ben Finney from when Kirk first met him circa 2250. I found a nice high res photo of Richard Webb from his Captain Midnight days, and I thought his bright smile was a great contrast with Ben Finney's haunted and haggard appearance from the end of "Court Martial."
I was originally planning on putting him in a Starfleet Uniform style from "The Cage" or "WNMHGB", but when I couldn't find a still or screencap that matched enough, I decided that I liked the retro cool of the bomber jacket and ascot. So I just imagine that this was some sort of Starfleet uniform variant for colder environments that was phased out over the next few years. I replaced the Captain Midnight emblem on his jacket with a logo for the United Earth Space Probe Agency that I grabbed from the website Ex Astris Scientia. Again, I found it kind of retro cool. I going for something akin to the United Earth/USS Enterprise emblem we see on Dr. Boyce's scrubs and the transporter operators' jumpsuits in "The Cage."
I'll probably work up some other variations on this one. I'd like to try a version with Finney wearing the sideways boomerang logo we see in various Starfleet facilities.
