Game The Most Disliked Hallucination/Illusion Episode

I think I'm in the minority of those who enjoys "THE THAW", which I am saving now. Michael McKean did a great job as The Clown. An extremely creepy guy... and his environment was the cherry on top for creep factor. Cool concept, too. The dark lighting in the briefing room was perfect for the episode, too... if not really having an explanation as to why it is so dark. A great season 2 outing.

I love The Thaw, particularly the ending. :)

I'll save Waltz, with very good performances from Avery Brooks and Marc Alaimo. I just can't help but love the analysis of Dukat's inner-workings, with his hallucinatory conversations with other people a highlight.

It's a shame that Dukat's character went off the rails after this episode.

No, in beauty there is only high fructose corn syrup:

TOS, Season 3: "Is There In Truth No Beauty?"

The episode has a poetic title, but is also fairly disjointed from the actual story, thus helping to prove Star Trek titles with goofy pseudo-intellectual names have been around since day one.

I did something of a full review roughly two years ago. I'm now tempted to do a rewatch: https://www.trekbbs.com/threads/is-there-in-truth-no-awesome.294267/#post-12472967

Making ENT, Season 2: “Vanishing Point”, well, vanish.

A nice, suspenseful episode about Hoshi who gets increasingly paranoid about the effects of the transporter, while her environment is only very gradually getting stranger. Though it perhaps would have been more fun if Tucker had brought up Cyrus Ramsey in the real world. too, at the end ;)

I'm saving Things Past because it gave us another look at Terok Nor during the occupation.

Considering I wouldn't mind Chakotay's flesh... wait, what were we talking about?
:guffaw::guffaw::guffaw:Oh, @Cutie McWhiskers, don't ever change!

And, for the second game where it's an option, I find myself saving "The Magicks of Megas-Tu," psychedelic colors, weird plot, and all. Because, darn it, I still admire the audacity it took to literally save the devil on a 1970s cartoon!

If horses could eat cupcakes, beggars will exclaim 'horchata'!

While not the best episode, "IF WISHES WERE HORSES" was definitely imaginative. :)

What's next... without horsing around, though I still think of who's built like a horse, of course...

TNG, Season 3: "The Bonding"

While this outing is not my favorite, there are plenty worse... and it still gets a lot of kudos for dealing with - including but not limited to:

* Children in military situations where their parents die
* A reminder Picard wasn't always fond of kids being on the ship and this episode broadens the reasoning from more than just personal discomfort and not being a family man into wider ramifications
* Troi and Wesley both getting something decent to do, serving traits both had but weren't often touched upon...
* Data too, but Data asking Riker how he knew Aster leads to a few fathomed ideas, oh my...
* Worf's subplot, paralleling Jeremy's. They even do a cool ceremony instead, using the blue screen as a literal interior instead of masking in who knows what. And how come he didn't adopt Jeremy? (He'd lose another son.)
* Ronald D Moore certainly gave his script a lot of thought and depth along with the gloomy aspect
* Kolbe's fantastic direction. When you see his name, you know his style will elevate anything that's to come no matter what

Okay, there's another day-glo sentient incorporeal critter flitting about the ship, who wants to adopt Jeremy since it seems neither Worf nor Troi nor Riker nor Data nor Picard want to do it. This follows the grand(iose) Trek tradition of creating new life forms more evolved than us, that no longer need bodies, and this one - scary but not implausibly - could even have served as a prequel for "Charlie X" with only a few small changes. But they took a different and (IMHO, better) route in that a ghostly survivor of a long-ended war was around to do a halfway decent thing with the newly orphaned boy.

Picard has a nice speech at the end but I might rewatch this one again to recall some of the more intricate details. I just don't remember if they left Jeremy just end up floating unresolved at the end of the story. Even if that, there's still a lot of nuance in this episode that makes it worthwhile for at least one viewing. I might appreciate it a lot more this time around.

Man....some of you folks have pulled episodes I find absolutely loathsome...part of the fun of the game though!

I am pulling "The Savage Curtain" Yes, it's a poor man's Arena / Spectre of the Gun, but I really like the action, and I love the additions of Khaless and Surak to Trek lore.

"THE STORYTELLER" gets saved for one big reason.

It started the O'Brien/Bashir friendship, which became one of THE cornerstones of this series.

Can't believe I missed "Remember" -- it's a ton better than most of the rest on this list, and better than at least one episode I already saved. (Lookin' at you, "Magicks.") Well, now it's removed. This was a well-told story about an important question: if we don't let ourselves remember what happened, what's to keep it from happening again? "Remember" tells us that remembering, as a person or as a society, is important even -- especially -- when it's painful.

Saving VOY, Season 4: “Waking Moments”

Lucid dreaming is an important theme in this episode, which I have some experience with and which I still find a fascinating concept. Also a rather fast-paced, energetic episode in which a new twist in the story is never far off.

Never mind that you shouldn't be thinking too hard about some questions the plot raises (such as "how does a species with a physical body, but spending nearly nearly all of its time sleeping, actually survive"?) :)

Saving "Persistence Of Vision" again -- big Kes fan! And I loved Voyager's practice of frequently making a spooky episode to air at Halloween.

TNG, Season 5: “Violations”

The early scenes with the cup and painting were saccharine but in an actually good and soothing, comforting way that's genuinely quite nice. It's done as a setup to some contrasting and very horrific imagery later on, making for a very creepy episode. It also covers "forced telepathy" in a different way and explored more effectively in this episode than in "Star Trek VI'. Trek VI's use was also in a very different context.

Also, on first viewing, I thought Tarmin looked like the Skipper from Gilligan's Island... these days I only see how his name rhymes with Charmin... everybody got theirs yet? If not, don't get the corona going around.

For me it’s between Extreme Measures and Flesh and Blood. Jeri Ryan’s impression of Robert Picardo is awesome. But it’s a bit contrived. Whereas Extreme Measures way they show you Sloane’s internal thoughts and the visit to where he compartmentalized the family he left was beautiful. So that one.
