This week's contest is about friendship: two characters who are great friends, in any science fiction, fantasy for horror film or television show. Any two characters that reasonably demonstrate some kind of significant friendship, in any science fiction, fantasy or horror tv show or film, will do. This does NOT include romantic relationships or family relationships--so, no Buffy & Angel, but no Sam & Dean, either. Some examples: Trip & Archer, Data & Geordi, Buffy & Willow, Xena & Gabrielle,Steve Rogers & Bucky, R2D2& C3PO, Indy & Sallah, Frodo & Sam, etc.

As always, max avatar size is 200 x 200 pixels max, 1 MB max, and please keep it work/Google safe. You may enter up to two.

I'll put the poll up next week, Sunday, the 29th.

    Here's mine:

Wouldn't that fall under family relationships, since Bruce Wayne basically adopted Dick Grayson?

As the narrator on that show always used to stress, Dick Grayson is Bruce Wayne's "young ward" (maybe because they thought it funny, as it's also the actor's name), which is different from an actually adopted child. In the comics, Bruce Wayne legally adopted Dick, but it took till after the turn of the century, when Dick was already well grown-up and left the identity of Robin to become Nightwing.

Dictionary.com defines "ward" as guardianship over a minor or legally incompetent person. Among other definitions, none of which could be applied to a person. But Dick Grayson was clearly a minor and Bruce Wayne was his guardian.

That's Bruce Wayne and his young ward, not Batman and Robin. ;)

So? It's still different than actual adoption.

OK, I'm stepping in here. From what I recall of the cartoon , they didn't have a father-son relationship -- more like teacher-student or just teammates and friends. Since the av is from the cartoon, I'm cool with it. I'll allow it.

In fairness, it's not from the cartoon, but from the main titles of the Adam West show. Doesn't change their relationship, though.

Ah! That will work too. They were definitely not father-son on the show. It's all good.

Sorry, it's TV and movies only. I don't know enough about comics to make fair determinations.

If Pippin's father's sister, Esmeralda Took,
was the mother of Meriadoc Brandybuck,
then Pippin and Merry is first cousins, and this may not be alowed?
