That's exactly how I feel. If it was just one or two callbacks, but Picard is filled to the brim with them as it is. It makes everything feel smaller and smaller despite their universe-ending stakes.
The Sphere Builders from ENT had the technology to do this(more likely than not)but since they didn't take over the Milky Way Galaxy 200,000 years ago but waited until 2153 and 2154 to make their attempt I'm guessing that rules them out as a logical species to bring back.

Actually I don't think they did, not even close, otherwise they would have destroyed our Star instead of creating a weapon and targeting the Earth.

Not if it doesn't really matter. They are gone, who really cares who they were. If Trekkies collectively guessed right that it was Tkon, then good for us, but not much of a spoiler. Who the Big Bad is, that is the question.

Even if it is TKon as I have been saying for a while the big bad may not be 0 like in the books.
I was by no means the first to say it though (no such thing as first on the internet), I saw someone else's post and went to look it up as I hadn't heard of them before, probably someone who has read the novels which I have not done.
Soon as I read the details on Memory Alpha it was clear to me it was a very good match, then I read about 0 and its ability to destroy Stars, which also matches perfectly with the unexpected destruction of the Romulus Star.
It was stated outright in the film that it was an unnatural Star death and should not be happening.
Who cares? Even if they drop the name in an episode it's just a name. Any other name would either be another name we heard before, or one we've never heard.
"The U.S.S. T'Pol has just dropped out of warp and is hailing us. What do you want us to do, JL?"
I'd say that the chance of the big bad being this 0 are zero.

The correct question would be "Were the star-moving race mentioned in PIC ep 8 the T'Kon previously mentioned in TNG?"

Very true. I am impressed, however, that Chabon and his crew know about the T’Kon Empire, Medusan navigational prowess, glommers and other obscure Trek lore. They actually seem to be aware of a large amount of canonical esoterica that I don’t think we’ve seen since Manny Coto briefly took over Enterprise.

To be completely fair, the limit of Nick Meyer’s knowledge of Trek before he wrote TWOK could be summed up in one statement from his biography, when he said, “that’s the one with the guy with the ears, right?”

9 for me. Some fabulous character moments - Picard speaking about Data was a beautiful scene, the holograms were hilarious, Raffi is getting better and Seven being briefly borgified again gave me chills.
However, I am bothered by the clumsy handwaving of Jurati's actions. She says sorry for murder, and everyone's fine with that as long as she hands herself in at some point? She murders her inspiration and lover to prevent hell, but will accept hell because Soji is cool? There's a vague suggestion that she was influenced by the mind meld rather than rationally considering her actions, but it's all very shallowly done.
