The Sir Patrick Stewart Topic

Sir Patrick & Pete Buttigieg played a Star Trek trivia quiz hosted by LeVar Burton on Jimmy Kimmel Live earlier:

From what I could make out from live tweets (I can't watch the show, I'm not from the US), Sir Patrick won just barely because he apparently answered a "boxers or briefs" question about LaForge correctly. (He apparently said that LaForge wears neither, lmao.) But this isn't verified 100% since I haven't seen it yet. I hope they'll upload it on Kimmel's Youtube channel, I can usually watch the videos there.

Update: Here's the video!

Let me get this straight; Jimmy Kimmel couldn't make the show, they needed a guest host, and they called... Mayor Pete?! Was this a prank or something?

He's standing on stage with Patrick Stewart and Levar Burton, bragging to them about meeting John de Lancie. At a Star Trek convention. Wow. Part of me wanted to see Sir Pat and Levar go all sarcastic enthusiasm, "No! What was he like?"

Cut the poor guy some slack, it was his first late night show, he was excited AND he's a mega Trekkie AND he had just gotten a signed script from Sir Patrick's personal TNG script collection AND a picture of Sir Patrick as Jean-Luc, signed as well AND he was playing a Trek trivia quiz against SIR PATRICK, hosted by LEVAR BURTON.

I may not be a Trekkie myself, but I think it's safe to say that a LOT of Trekkies would have switched over to nerd overload mode at that point. And it's not THAT uncommon that people tell Sir Patrick they met this and that fellow TNG actor. ;)

And I repeat: they called this guy to fill in for Jimmy Kimmel?!

Sir Patrick finally appeared on the brilliant "I, Podius" podcast about (my favorite Sir Patrick series) I, Claudius - and he had a few very interesting and funny things to say about the show and (my favorite Sir Patrick character) Sejanus. (He was drinking cocktails tho and it shows a bit, keep that in mind, haha.)

You can listen to it here - Sir Patrick's interview appears at the end, in the last 15 minutes or so.

I just recently re-visited Jeffrey (1995), which I hadn't seen since I was a teenager. I enjoyed it more this time around, though aspects of it are definitely dated. Patrick Stewart is a delight and his performance stands out against a great supporting cast (Nathan Lane, Sigourney Weaver, and Victor Garber to name a few, with a brief appearance from Ethan Phillips). It's currently available to stream via Kanopy.

Yeah, Jeffrey is one of my favorite Sir Patrick movies. Some of it is dated indeed (so 90s...) but as a whole it still holds up. And Sir Patrick's performance is amazing indeed. He has so many memorable lines and moments!

News: Jonathan del Arco has a podcast, and Sir Patrick is a guest there - give it a listen!

Did he try to lure 'Geordi' into the Picard show? He tried it with Whoopi.....

I'd say he pretty much succeeded with Whoopi, lol. He has said that he wishes for the show to have all of TNG's main cast members appear at some point on PIC to show how their lives have changed, so I'd say there's a good chance LeVar Burton will have a guest appearance at some point.

As Captain LaForge? We will see. May they all stay healthy. With Aron Eisenberg and René Auberjonois gone, there aren't many candidates for DS9 cameos left.

I'm only interested in Sir Patrick, I must admit for me it's pretty much completely irrelevant who else shows up because only Sir Patrick matters to me when it comes to Star Trek, I have no interest in anything beyond that. I am sad that quite a few DS9 actors are no longer with us tho of course, I know how much Trekkies tend to also like the actors behind the characters, and if my Trekkie friends are sad, I'm sad as well.
