Spoilers Star Trek: Picard General Discussion Thread

Have you ever wondered if Geordi has any guilt issues over the manner of Data's death? He's the one who opened the airlock for Data to make his fateful journey to the Scimitar. He had to know that one of them wasn't coming back.

Oh, he knew, no doubt.

There's probably quite a few Data/LaForge fics out there that explore this very subject. ;)

Wouldn't Geordi have assumed that the Transporter Device would have brought them both back?
He didn't know when Data left that someone was going to have to shoot the Thalaron Generator with a phaser.

I think Geordi was worried that Data may not make it in time.
(or even get completely across the open space between the ships)

Serious question:

Is Alex Kurtzman a "Beware the singularity" guy, or are they just completely out of ideas?

Kurtzman is not the showrunner.

I don't think this is going to go the way you and a lot of other people think. I think ultimately the focus will be on why Synthetic life is just as valid as biological life and should be treated with the same respect. There are a lot of hints to this in particular the constant mentions of Data's death and sacrifice. The problem wont be a rampant A.I but the Alien civilisation responsible for the 'Admonition'. Data's life is going to be key to stopping them via a peaceful solution.

And this would be awesome, it feels very much like the essence of TNG and of captain Jean-Luc Picard.

We can still have some "cavalry to the rescue" scenes with Riker/ Enterprise/ Seven/ whtever because the Vorlons... I mean ancient civilazation or what they have left behind might have been convinced by our heroes, but some of their younger followers have not.

I must say, that even though I much prefer episodic to serialized, I am enjoying it more in season 1 more than any other Trek save TOS1, on a per episode basis anyway.

FWIW, VOY1 and DISC1 were also good.

I think this probably actually is Star Trek's best first season. TOS included. Only two episodes left to say for sure, but it's looking pretty good. At least in my opinion.

Just in case anyone is trying to connect these desperate elements.
From ep 1. Data's impossible hand of 5 Queens, or are those 5 daughters?

From La Sirena thread., the main painting on Picard's holo-room is
Léger "Women in an Interior" that's 5 women (or four and and one girl)

E.4 .FYI for those into these details
On the wall is Fernand Léger "Women in an Interior" (1921)
(read into that what you will)
For those keeping count, in both imaged that's two pairs, ...and one "extra".
So far we've had Soji, Jana and Dahj.
