The Nimoy card image from a few posts back seems to have disappeared, unless something is wrong with my browser. But I don't see what Nimoy would have objected to. Kor
Well they did release an electronic-free gold version for a toyfare or comic con. Honestly DST are just horrendous at dates, so it's best to just forget about their products. If something does end up at retail it's a bonus. They've had the Reliant in the works for what feels like about a decade.
The problem is, I really love the DST ships. I know they're not perfect, but man I want some new ones - or even reissues. That Enterprise-D is virtually unobtainable for under $500.00!!
Thanks for the great ride down memory lane! I still have many of my Playmates figures and vehicles. I never noticed that the Orinoco’s forward windows were misplaced! Does anyone know if there’s a business selling replacement stickers for the Playmates ships? I see that Stickerfixer sells stickers for the Enterprise-D: http://stickerfixer.com/store/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=3&products_id=23 But I was really hoping to find stickers for the Enterprise-B.
I've not found them for anything else unfortunately. You might be able to make your own if you could find a decent scan of the originals.
They do periodic production runs on their ships. Sometimes they update the model, or switch between the TMP and 1701-A paint jobs and sound sets. There's usually a fair amount of time where the domestic supply has dried up and the only available units are from scalpers. Then the fresh product drops.
Yep. From my old Geocities pages. John Paul was great to correspond with! "It's a Wrap!" finally auctioned off the costume John Paul designed. It was mainly rubber and was starting to perish, so I didn't bid. http://therinofandor.blogspot.com/2007/05/runepp-of-rasiinia-going-going-gone.html He was cranky that someone had forgotten to get his approval, as per contract, so he proved a point and refused to sign off on it.
Slightly off topic, but can people tell me the heights of the DS9 cast please? Specifically Sisko, O'Brien, Dax and Bashir. I'm making custom figures of them in their season 5-7 uniforms and want their heights to be accurate. From memory I'm guessing Sisko is the tallest, followed by O'Brien and then Dax and Bashir are a similar height?
Close. O'Brien is shorter by one inch than Jadzia and Bashir (same height). From Google: Avery Brooks - 6' 1" / 1.85 m Terry Farrell - 6' 0" / 1.83 m Alexander Siddig - 6' 0" / 1.83 m Colm Meaney - 5' 11" / 1.8 m Nicole de Boer - 5' 5" / 1.65 m Of course Farrell and de Boer wore lifts on their shoes, and other actors may have as well (not as much as 5' 8" / 1.73 m Nana Visitor), so you may be best just looking at photos and using the above heights as rough estimates. The tallest DS9 main actor I think is a tie between Cirroc Lofton and Michael Dorn (6' 3" / 1.91 m), although that applies to late series Lofton.
Thanks so much for this @Tim Thomason; I’m much obliged. Please don’t think I was being lazy by not Googling the cast heights, I just figured some people on here would know off the top of their heads. I think I could quite confidently put the cast of TNG in height order, but I struggled with DS9. I had no idea how tall the cast were! In my head Bashir was quite short and I thought the same of Dax too. This will be very helpful in assembling these custom figures, so thank you.
I was under the assumption that all the women on the show had to wear slightly higher heeled women's boots to "correct" their "posture" for stupid reasons. Although you may be correct, in that the very few images of Farrell in costume (outside of her TOS costume), with her boots and heels visible, don't seem to add too much height. Images with Avery Brooks usually show his height over her. Except for in Tribble-ations, when they seem to be the same height all of a sudden. The only real good image I could find of a DS9 era woman's uniform boot is of Mulgrew's, which is very high, but she was seven inches shorter than Farrell. Jeri Ryan is only 5' 8", but was always portrayed as very tall thanks to footwear and camera tricks. Because of Farrell being one of the tallest women in Star Trek, they may have given her shorter boots so she wouldn't tower over Brooks and Siddig and all the rest.
The Galoob figures were shite anyway; the only good toy from that line was the die-cast Enterprise-D toy, which I wish I could still get cheaply.
