In three days time, @Christopher's latest TOS movie-era novel will be officially released, although I'm sure some book stores already have it on their shelves - Has anyone picked up a copy yet? I'm really excited for this novel and can barely wait for it to hit my Kindle!

The Higher Frontier by Christopher L. Bennett is out on Tuesday, 10th March!

I'm looking forward to reading a new TOS novel. It'll take some time until I'll get to read it, though. I'm still busy with The Captain's Oath and two German Trek books.....

I got my copy yesterday. I was hoping I would finish it and create the thread first. Bummer. :)

This is why I created the PICARD - The Last and Best Hope Thread earlier than necessary.

Hopefully it’s better than that dreary book. Wasn’t a fan.

I must admit, I was a little surprised that a review thread hadn't already been created as they usually seem to get put up a week or two before the publication date.

I'm looking forward to seeing how Christopher treats telepathy (and other psi/psy abilities, if there are any) in this book. I find telepathy, telekinesis and the like fascinating (I used to be a big fan of Anne McCaffrey's Talent and Dragonrider series!), and I'm curious whether it will be based in science or be "indistinguishable from magic". I hope it's the latter - a little mystery is always good :)

The cover shows an Andorian starship and there's a ringed planet in the background, so I'm guessing the Aenar are the telepathic minority mentioned in the blurb.

No Enterprise on the cover, no characters on the cover. Interesting direction.

The cover sucks, but I’m sure the story is good.

I think it's a terrific cover, and so do most of the people I've heard from.

The cover's just nine, IMO. Many of the more recent Trek book covers have been really crowded, and it's nice to see something bit less cluttered.

It’s nice if it was a Bob Ross version of Star Trek.

I’m sure the cover relates to the story. It is a interesting one for sure. If you didn’t know that was a Andorian ship, you would just think it was the cover for some generic sci fi story.

I think it's a fantastic, if generic cover, look forward to getting my own copy. Who did the art? Is that a location / ship from the story?

That cover is really interesting, in a simple yet grand and majestic way. I like how they've done Star Trek logo lettering along the left side.

One part of me wants to get to The Higher Frontier through the post-TMP sequence of Ex Machina and the time travel follow-up, and finally this new one. Another part of me wants to jump right to it as my next Star Trek book, out of interest to see a new story featuring Miranda, Ambassador Kollos, and the Medusans. The title's intriguing, too, given the Star Trek context, I'm curious to know about what The Higher Frontier means.
