Coming late to the party as usual.
I gave it a 8. I would give it a 9 but I really can't stand of the Romulans spy-siblings, although the whole thing with Soji realizing there is something really wrong with her life was good.
Loved the Hugh and Picard parts, omg when they hugged each other.. :)

I really hope Elnor and Hugh won't get killed.

Talking about Elnor..it's the 6th episode and I really care about Picard's crew/companion. Something that never happened after two seasons of Disco, where I couldn't care less even if the lead makes it or not.

I loved last episode when he kept feeling left out on things. Such a simple piece of dialogue to capture his wanting to belong to the group. That's where I do get annoyed with Disco. There would be some sermon of observation at some point on his feelings. Probably, in the middle of the hostage moment.

Maybe we'll get a spinoff sitcom next year with Soji living in an apartment with resurrected versions of Data and her two uncles B4 and Lore. They'll have a pet exocomp and a snarky synth butler. Wacky hijinks ensue.

I fully agree with you on caring for the characters on Picard vs. DISCO. Half the bridge crew I still know very little about in DISCO. They wanted me to care about Airiam's death so instead of building up the character they clearly had a story arch for through season 2 they crammed it all in to the episode she dies in and it made for a "who cares" moment.

Episode 3 in Picard when the Zhat Vash attack Château Picard I was so worried they were going to kill off Laris or Zhaban because I cared for them after only 3 episodes. It made the scene even more intense and was so relieved when the made it out the situation. Laris maybe my favourite new character on the series.

I'm interested in how Raffi and Rios seem to be on opposite journeys at the moment, character-wise. Raffi, we've clearly seen, is on a downward spiral - has been for many years, really, coming aboard for this journey gave her a temporary lift, but once her son rejected her she came crashing down hard. Rios, in contrast, seems to be reclaiming more and more of his former Starfleet self the longer he has living, breathing people aboard, he's gone from not wanting to be seen to care about anything when we first met him to acting as caretaker for every soul on his ship - offering comfort to Agnes, looking after Raffi, noticing Elnor's disappearance, etc.

Jurati doesn’t seem like some psychopathic manipulator. Her emotions stroke me as real, she got with Rios because she was having trouble dealing with what she did.

Jurati was shown something by somebody at Starfleet who is probably working with Narek. She really believes that the synths present so large a threat as to override all other moral considerations.

Totally disagree here. Note how she unnecessarily goes into graphic details about Picard's assimilation right in front of him to get him to throw a fit. That and the business with Rios screams coordinated psychological misdirection to me.

Plus, she just shows up a Chateau Pucard and neatly shoots a Romulan with a phaser rifle? After a meeting with Oh? Then murders her ex-lover & ex-partner?

Glad she has some folks fooled, not you or I, however.

It's not that I needed an instant solution to the Jurati murder. But just glossing over this sudden death, no one even checking the EMH... As far as the show is concerned, we don't even know Jurati is an MD, so we scratch our heads and wonder why these people just accept her medibabble at face value.

I enjoyed this episode from start to finish. I read and watched that some found it boring. Not me and I liked that this was longer. My favorite moment was when Hue and Picard hugged. It was a touching moment.

She activates, smashes through the floor, Romulans chase her, runs into Hugh and Picard, Hugh leads them to a Spacial Trajector that just happens to be on the cube and Picard and Soji use it to escape (telling the ship to come meet them at their destination, which is a place called Nepenthe), with Hugh and Elnor left awaiting angry Romulan reinforcements deep inside the cube.

Thank you! I read pages in this thread and couldn't put it together.

Oh Laris and Zhaban! I want a spin off!
Disco's writing is quite suffering. It seems like they bother so much more to build style than to develop characters. It honestly feels like if Disco's bridge crew is just a part of the decoration!

I think it likely Hugh will be rescued by a swarm of XB's who have frankly had enough of these pointy-eared devils poking and prodding them.
Really, Dr. Beverly Crusher and the Doctor did a waaaaaay better work with former Borgs! Probably it's a matter of Quality vs Quantity...

I think that was a 9 this week. We have distinct traction with Soji's plot, who finally know's who she is.

I have grown to like Elnar, with his little fun quips about different things making me smile. I also like how loyal he is to Picard.

We saw Hugh again, and I particularly liked that he met up with Picard to catch up on the goss. Intriguing bit of information about the Borg Queen being a Romulan, making me instantly think we'll see her at some point.

So is Narek going to decide to be on Soji's side in the long-Having said that though, him and his sister spying on Soji, whilst also having a relationship is easily the least interesting part of the show. I'm just glad Soji is with Picard for the sake of the story. ;)

The end was a nice tense moment at the end to leave us all waiting until next week. I would like Hugh and Elnar to wear protective padding. Do NOT go all Icheb/Bruce Maddox on me. Thanks!

Watched it last night, and I give it a very solid 8. This episode was really good, and more along the lines of what I want from this series! For the first time since the first episode, I didn't see Patrick Stewart playing Picard, but I saw Picard. When he gets upset at talking about the Borg, that's the Picard I want to see.

I felt the apprehension and discomfort he had going over to the Borg ship, and his emotional whirlwind is what I wanted to see. The aftermath of all he went through in the one situation that completely changed his life (it's the emotion I wanted to see that has carried in him for years since breaking down into tears with his brother when he was home just afterward).

For the most part, this was a solid episode, quite a good turnaround from last week, which I didn't like too much. Hopefully it will stay on this better footing for me and keep getting better!

A rogue cube full of ex-Borgs who want their own freedom presents an interesting new addition to the political climate of ST:Picard's universe. I could see 7 joining up with that cause. Honestly.. I could see Picard joining up with that cause. He's always avoided identifying in that way, but he's just as much an XB as the rest of them.

edit: I wonder what happened with the rest of that ex-borg group that Hugh was part of and Lore briefly led.
