So what surprise guest star are they keeping back? They must have kept someone back... right?

Yistaan speaks in jest, but there is solid evidence that Michael Dorn was on the set of Picard, for some reason (he signed an autograph with the Picard cast for a crewmember), even though the producers denied he was ever there. If he's not the ultimate bad guy, as I proposed elsewhere, then he (and the Enterprise-E/F?) might just be the teaser cameo/cliffhanger for next season.

Pretty sure he was just speaking metaphorically, comparing the Romulans to the Borg Queen. "We have a new 'queen' now" as in "we used to have a queen, now we have the Romulans. Same difference."

It's like that bit in The Ten Commandments where Edgar G. Robinson mocks Moses by comparing him to Pharaoh. "It seems we have a new pharaoh now."

Hugh was not literally saying that the Romulans have a queen, just the the ex-Borgs have a new ruler.

In The Q and the Grey, Q mentions the Romulan Empress. Maybe we have a long-term Empress behind the scenes of all these crazy Praetors, a la Queen Victoria. Perhaps Joanne Linville is available.

She's 92! Probably retired. Anyway I'm sure the Romulan Commander's spent the last decade mourning Spock anyway.

I'm not even going to wait till this weekend. After thinking about it some more, I'm giving this episode a 9.

After a week where I watched the new episode of Picard and felt depressed about being a Star Trek fan to the point where I stopped my Voyager rewatch for a few days, Picard came back with probably the best episode since the pilot, even though I did like episode 4. We didn't have violence that felt exploitative. Instead we had a well crafted story that pushed plots along and call backs to Voyager and the prior series that I totally forgot about even though I'm currently doing a Voyager rewatch now. We had some amazing scenes with Picard and Hugh (They both have come a long way since I, Borg) and overall it was just an episode that felt like a series turning the corner and actually giving us Star Trek ideals again. Maybe last week I did come across as a "Hater" (I guess these days, if you don't like an episode you are a hater even if you have been enjoying the overall series), but this week felt like a Star Trek episode again and I really do appreciate that.

I'm also really starting to like this crew, except for maybe Elnor. I'm afraid he's becoming too comic-y for my liking, and I found it odd that he ties himself to Picard as the Millout way or whatever and Picard tells him to stay on the ship. This was after last week him complaining about not getting pop up, or asking if they are stopping pretending now. I would like Elnor to be a little smarter than he has shown, but that nitpick is minor. I am liking Raffi's story, and before last week my favorite character might have been Jurati. I think now it's Raffi, and I do like how they are exploring drug abuse with her.

Last week might have been a little rough. This week was a much needed improvement and turnaround. I'm looking forward to next week and seeing Riker again. Hopefully the season finishes strong and the violence level is about the same as it was last night and not Icheb's torture from a week ago.

it would make sense its word as the special guest as he is now captain of the Enterprise....enterprise swooping in to save the day?

Captain Worf is in the house!! ;)

Loved this one. Picard shitting himself to be back on a Borg cube, the reunion with Hugh and seeing the work they're doing was the highlight.

Romulan secret names for family and loved ones is straight out of Diane Duane's Rihannsu novels. Awesome.

Soji realising her life was a lie was sad. Narek's tears as he tried to kill her meant he really did care a little bit (not enough, but a little bit)

Very curious where they're going with this.

Ho boy, imagine the outrage if at the end of the season, the Enterprise shows up with or without Worf, everybody cheers for the cavalry coming to the rescue... and then they hail La Sirena to inform them that they're all under arrest on various random charges. And then fade to black and a "to be continued" title card before the credits roll.

Would they really end the first season of their new Star Trek show almost the exact same way they ended the first season of Discovery? That seems a little repetitive, doesn't it?

Cut to: Bridge of the Enterprise-E

Security Chief: Captain, it's Admiral Picard. He's attempting to hail us.

Captain Worf (without missing a beat): Fire.

To be continued...

*dun dun. Dun dun. Duuun.*

It's highly speculative, and Dorn could just be with some cameo in Picard's memory or at his funeral with a plethora of other TNG stars, but it is an open question that no fate for the Enterprise has been stated or alluded to. We should get some hints when Riker comes aboard for his obligatory single episode.

I don't think the Sovereign Enterprise-E or a live-action Odyssey Enterprise-F would merit the same OMG reaction for a five-second cameo, so a ten-minute scene (or even off-and-on the entire final episode) of getting to know the Enterprise and her present crew, maybe with Picard reuniting with it on the Bridge for the final battle (or the first half...) would be different enough from Discovery's finale.

Ruminating some more on the idea of Picard as a spokesperson for the xBs...that cute little bit with the xB recognizing him as Locutus actually underscores an important element: that Picard has unique qualifications for such a position, as he's a distinguished figure both in the Federation and in the Collective.

The really meaty bit...if he assumes this role, he'd be coming full circle with his assimilation experience, as he would, in a sense, be embracing his role as Locutus--serving as the face and voice of the xBs rather than the Collective.

To be fair, they foreshadowed that a few eps ago when a bored, worried Jurati sought out Rios for company when he was trying to read his book. They had some "meet-cute" banter going on there.
I've been detecting sparks between them for a while now. Like last episode after she KO'ed the Rock 'em Sock 'em Robot, she playfully punched him.

My understanding is that we are to use the spoilers tag for up to 2 weeks after an episode has aired, if our post reveals ANYTHING about that episode. Given people tend to speculate after they've watched the latest episode, then these personal theories are 'spoilers' according to the rules of BBS.
As a matter of practicality, that wouldn't apply to previous episodes in an episode discussion thread. We have to assume that if people have watched 6, they've watched 5 as well.

liked Hugh/Picard scenes
Rios kicking it up balling around and looking a bit after Rafi

didn't like
Everything Dr. Jurati: getting away with the killing, seriously no HoloRios, vid/cams/alerts or questions by the others, also hooking up with Rios
the creepy romance Romulan twins and the other Soji/Dahi storyline.

Here's hoping Sword Master TM and Hugh survive.
4 more episodes to go, so far quite hit and miss. I do love the aspect of showing a much broader angle on the Romulans culture overall so far this season.

Good episode, finally stuff going on. Bit concerned that we’re 6/10 of the way through the season and it feels like we’re just getting started though...

I liked this episode a lot. The visual direction especially.

I didn’t get why Hugh and Temor didn’t come with them, that part seemed a tad contrived. But Picard’s experience on the cube was perfect.

Rafi’s issues seem like they’d be more at home in a different show so far. Like they don’t relate much to the main narrative and make her seem like an anchor on the mission. I hope she finds new purpose by end of season.

Starfleet are not sending help for Picard that would be too easy, they are more likely to send goons via section 31 or something.

Seven gave Picard a call me card, Picard in the next trailer is like I had a crew and ship, seems to me now is the time to call a vigilante, and with jeri Ryan's imdb being altered to hide episodes she has been in this makes me think Seven has a far larger role in the overall show.

Regardless of how badly wrong I will be with my guess The show gets better with every episode and is oncourse to become my favourite first season of any trek show, just sad it is such a short season.
