No one bothers to check in with the EMH to see how Maddox died? Agnes' prepared explanation wouldn't convince a child.

That assumes that they didn't check, and that there was something left to discover afterwards. Jurati is after all one of the Federation's leading cyberneticists, so messing with the programming or memory of an EMH should be child's play for her.

i thought that was great. the best example of what this show can be: it played in picard’s history and psychology, advanced the character’s growth, dabbled in nostalgia, established new lore for the romulans, gave us some cool new tech, and developed its own overarching plot. i loved that hugh greeted picard with a hug rather than anger just to create drama. this also felt like a complete episode, which has been rare for this show.

my only complaint would be how contrived it was that elnor and hugh didn’t go with picard and soji at the end, but clearly the show has other plans for them.

Wow, that was easy for Jurati murdering geek.

"The obvious tension beteeen you makes me uneasy."
Me, too, Elnor, me too! I fear for Rios... Although now she might be concentrating on trying to off Soji first.

I hope we've seen the last oft he Rommister twin dynamics. "Patience, sister!" No, dude.
And I don't f...ing care about Nareks feelings. I imagine a future conversation that we will hopefully be spared:

Narek: Yes, I tried to kill you, but believe me, it hurt me far more than you!
Jurati: I know, right? Nobody ever onsiders our feelings!
Soji: Yeah, no. Fuck off.
(IF they feel they need romance in the show... and I don't think they do... then tke anoter look t Space Legolas, sweetie!)

What was the purpose of the ritual, instead of killing her instantly? The only info he got from that exercise was the two moons (maybe "the nest"). But I suppose there are many planets with two moons, so... What was the point of the mediation thing?
And Treadaway's acting is still seriously lacking IMO.

I really hope that Elnor and Hugh get out alive. Loved it when Hugh greeted Picard warmly. I guess the neverending chain of people acusing him of abondoning them is truly broken. Of couse Hugh also has an agenda - Picard advocating for XB civil rights - but that's ok. And I would quite like to see that.

Jean-Luc was awesome. I missed Seven though. Time to use that plastic thingie she gave you, JL!

Welp. Now it's Jurati vs a relapsing addict, two very trusting people (one of them emotionally and hormonally compromised) and a bunch of not very reliable Emergency Holograms... Raffi, get your shit together!

The new alcoves look surprisingly bland and boring. I liked the TNG Borg interior design, and FC/VOY was even better, but this one is far less interesting

I actually quite like them (and note I've mostly been underwhelmed by the lack of creativity shown by the production design).

The TNG ones were conceptually superior IMO, attempting to depict a technologically superior cybernetic foe, yet suffering from the 80s TV budget. Conversely, the FC+ designs were more expensive but grungy as fuck, as they wanted a "haunted house" feel. The STP version strikes a nice balance IMO - the interiors are sleek and hi-tech, while remaining ominously dark.

Cracker of an episode. You know you're a hopeless Trekkie with a vast, useless repository of information when you can name the episode/movie each frame of stock footage is from when Picard did his Borg-related query, as well as spotting the reference to the Sikarian dickheads from Voyager.

Rizzo is really pizzed in next weeks trailer.

And Juarti's pass at Rios was a major tease.
He's a better man than I.
If Jurati is already making passes at another man then I think its fair to say she has been in it up to her neck all along.

Its not exactly the sort of thing a person would do after their ex just died, whether they finished him off or not.

Looks like she is a real agent for someone, probably the Commodore and possibly Zhat Vash.

I am liking her for Mars even more now.

Soji is made of wood in her dream--is her father's name Geppetto? Would that make Romulan ale the Blue Fairy?

She knows Narek's real name now. His ass will be Doxx'd for sure now that he's on her bad side...

Couldn't help notice Raffi's bed was remarkably presentable for someone who apparently has been on a bender for the last few days; could this be the handywork of the Emergency Housekeeping Hologram?

(Cue mental images of Rios in a French maid's outfit...)

"Got a housekeeping emergency? The Emergency Housekeeping Hologram will tidy up your bedroom in no time!!"
(The EHH is Rios in an English butler's suit, speaking with a thick British accent and a slightly gay-ish tone) ;):guffaw:

Is anyone else having trouble with streaming? I keep getting up early to watch the show but it has not been available until 6am last week and now it is almost 630 and nothing...I am enjoying the spoiler posts though. I watched the first four episodes between 4-5 am with no problem.

Regarding Jurati's role in things...note how the story has turned so that she doesn't get instant access to Soji.

What was the purpose of the ritual, instead of killing her instantly? The only info he got from that exercise was the two moons (maybe "the nest"). But I suppose there are many planets with two moons, so... What was the point of the mediation thing?
You answered your own question. That was exactly the information they needed...a clue to the whereabouts of Maddox's lab. And the meditation was so that Soji could overcome her programming not to remember it.

I really hope that Elnor and Hugh get out alive.
Elnor's a fresh new lead character, he'll make it, and with some new notches on his sword. Hugh...now if they're going the route of making Picard an xB advocate, that would give Picard a boatload of motivation.
