Those scenes had no blood and no organs.
For me, that's far far worse. Same with things like the Ceti Eels, the conspiracy aliens, David's death, etc.

For me, what is unseen is far more disturbing because my mind fills in the gaps. Neither type of scene is enjoyable, but one bothers me far more.

Agree with the overload of exposition except for one thing. Jurati's speech on killing Maddox needed more exposition, not less. Pretty sure Maddox died without knowing why, and the only reason was for fourth wall breaking over-secrecy on the Zhat Vash secret.
Unless it required a longer infodump than Maddox had time for.

There's probably a good chance I would fail to recognize David Patreus or Norman Schwarzkopf if they were standing next to me.
Unless they were in their fatigues, which would make it more of a gimme.

I never for a second got the impression that Riker was overstepping his bounds in those moments; rather that he was taking responsibility for exactly the sorts of commands that Picard expected him to, however they divvied things up. This was our first show with a dedicated first officer who wasn't manning a console, so he had to do something.
As I recall from the pre-show coverage in Starlog, the goal was to create a more realistic Naval dynamic where the captain didn't micromanage or lead dangerous landing parties, but delegated that to the first officer. Of course, that didn't last long.

Voyager was home, old crew had moved on, and little birdies have to leave the nest sometime.
"Bye, ma, I'm off to make a life for myself as a deadly vigilante in the former Neutral Zone. "

Or maybe Janeway did relentlessly pursue Seven. And Seven killed her.
Okay, now that's Tarantino Trek. :rommie:

It didn't bother me at the time, but having seen the criticism so many times, I can see how the TNG crew could easily have come across as elitist...which could have been a big trigger for me back in the day, though it wasn't.
I don't see it as a valid criticism. Makes me think of the people who complain that I read too much or work with poor people. "Oh, you think you're so much better than us." Well, yeah. :rommie:

I'm sure I'm missing a lot.... :rommie:

And keep in mind that things have moved on, peace and order has been restored, all that crap.
You know in the films when the situation feels like a total setup and everyone is screaming not to open the box or press the button.

Its like that, so I didn't.

Speculation: What if Dahj and Soji were created as embryos and Jurati carried them to term? And that was her important contribution.
A valid possibility. She may have even provided ingredients on that end.
The flashback immediately made me think that Jurati & Maddox were both genetic donors (he impregnated her through either natural or artificial means). A little genetic manipulation, a piece of Data's brain, and you end up with twin replicants.

I dunno man. If that was the case, wouldn't they have gotten a white actor, rather than Isa Briones?

I mean, her "Mom AI" is Asian, so clearly she's supposed to be biracial/multiracial within-universe as well. If you're only using West Eurasian DNA, someone wouldn't look like that.

What does her not being 'white' enough have to do with the idea?
