Indeed. Despite fan's passion they still don't have ownership of the franchise. I think that creates a lot of frustration and bears reminding from time to time of where ownership begins and ends.

I've always felt like the IP owns me.
It sucked me in as a kid and has never let go.
Since I've obviously very much enjoyed the ride these past 50+ years, I'm not willing to just toss it aside because it occasionally wants to flip me over and try something painfully new.

She retweeted me today. Feels good, doesn't it?

You know what I mean. He was in uniform and died needlessly.
I wonder if he was actually on his way to see Seven and that is when Bjayzl got a hold of him.
(which might explain why he still had his uniform on)

Also Bjayzl must have known that kidnapping a Star Fleet Officer was bad ju-ju.

Had Seven gotten there before his left eye implant was violently removed he might have been in good enough condition to be saved.

From the look of his torn uniform, it appeared that the chop-shop lady had been working on him for a bit.
The eye didn't appear to be the first place she started.
She did already have a couple of his parts in that tray of hers.

Why didn't Q (Keegan DeLancie) save Icheb? "Itchy" is his best friend after all.
He probably didn't want to end up naked and alone like his Father.
(it seems that "The Q" generally frown heavily upon their Individuals doing such stuff)

Ads especially since "Kathy" ain't got her own starship around to rescue him anymore.
;)

I understand TV has changed and its more realistic, sexiest and goriest than 50 years ago, but that doesn't mean it has to be full with grim, dark stories.. Especially in our times, especially for a franchise that use(d?) to focus on the good side of humanity.
Not everything has to be BSG..

I've seen the "it doesn't have to be like this" argument a lot over the years, and it never works. It doesn't actually have any force. Even when the argument is true, it doesn't signify anything. Whether the creative staff could have made a different show is irrelevant. This is the show they wanted to make, and did make..

In the particular case of Star Trek: Picard, it isn't even true. The aspects of the show we're talking about are the aspects which convinced Stewart to do the show. He has explicitly said this.

He was off on his own away from his starship apparently on 'leave',
it really wasn't "in the line of duty".

He was helping his surrogate mother who is taking the law in her own hands.

Something I'm pretty sure Star Fleet would frown upon.

Probably true. Picard wasn't OK with Worf gutting Duras like a trout, even though it was wholly appropriate within Klingon culture. Which is OK; Picard is sometimes wrong about stuff.

Picard copped an attitude with Kirk in the Nexus and quickly got shot down, walking off to steam. He knows when he's overstepped his bounds.

Picard: Mr. Worf, you will not go into hiding every time a Klingon ship decloaks.
Worf: Very well, sir. May I seek mortal revenge against my enemies then?
Picard: Absolutely out of the question! That would be a disgrace to the uniform!
Worf: Well you want me to hang out with the other Klingons, that's what we do!
