Holy shit. I just noticed an Elnor/Jurati relationship tag on AO3.
They haven't even met yet. WTF? And apparently the relationship name is "Elnoji". :wtf:
Those two have barely been in the same compartment together. Now Rios and Jurati, I've been detecting a bit of extra chemistry there.

Recasts are definitely bad when the replacement is just so much worse. In my opinion Saavik turned from a great character into a bad one. It was just as bad as the recast of Ruby in Supernatural in case anyone is familiar with that series.

I think Kirstie Alley turned down the role for the second movie. They didn't have much of a choice.

We'll see if we get more of Seven this season. If she gets killed, the last scene of the season will probably be Janeway - out of nowhere, showing up in a souped up shuttlecraft, with her hand on the "reset" button. And she'll take a long look into the camera and say, "Hey, I was a Borg for like half an episode, too. Everyone forgets, but history will remember the name 'Janeway.' Oh yeah, 'Seven,' too."

They made the mistake of not putting in a sequel clause in her contract.

By the time Star Trek III started to be planned, Paramount Pictures had neglected to negotiate a sequel clause as part of Kirstie Alley's contract for the Star Trek films. (Star Trek: The Magazine Volume 3, Issue 8, p. 33) Leonard Nimoy (who was assigned to direct the third film) later explained, "Frankly, Paramount's Business Affairs had dropped the ball on her contract for Wrath of Khan. She'd been a total newcomer then, and Paramount had been within its rights to insert an option clause in her contract that required her to perform in a sequel for a predetermined price. But the company had neglected to do it–so Kirstie was now a free agent!" (I Am Spock, hardback ed., pp. 224-225)

A major factor in the difference between Saaviks was that Nimoy directed Curtis to act completely Vulcan, contradictory to the intent of her portrayal in TWOK.

Yeah, this didn't help, too.

I missed the "great outcry" over it. I figured occasional complaints would occur. That's the nature of fandom.

I guess I'm sheltered/ignorant/unaware because I see more about this one than my reviews of Saavik. I don't see the furor over Saavik as I do with Maddox, here, Reddit, demanding explanations, etc...

You did this same thing with Discovery too. 'Why do people complain about this thing that happened in an episode that aired two days ago and not complain about a somewhat similar thing that happened in another episode several decades ago, before the internet even existed?" Gee, that sure is a mystery!

Furthermore, there is no 'great outcry' about this.
