I don't think he'd have started shooting at her right off the bat. Rizzo does have Oh threatening to fry her butt if she doesn't get her mission accomplished.
At the start of the scene the first thing anyone does is put a blade into Dahj's boyfriend which is hardly the thing to do to keep her calm, why not knock him out or grab him as well.

Then when they have the hood over her head they stand around and have a nice chat about how she hasn't activated yet even though they know how dangerous she could be if she does.

Its almost like they were trying to trigger her and make her fight and then run.

I am very suspicious of the entire chain of events we have been shown and don't get me started about the AI Mother that has trigger words to make them do certain things like fall asleep.

Yeah, but Trek and action movies have done that shit so often it's hard to distinguish if it's a clue to something since it's usually just bad writing.

A theory that keeps getting brought up in these threads is that the big secret of the Zhat Vash and the origins of Dahj & Soji somehow relate to the creation of the Borg and the Borg queen.

I really hope that this doesn't turn out to be the case. I find that as uninteresting and uninspired as the theory V'Ger is the origin of the Borg.

Why does it always come back to the Borg? At this point it seems like the writers & part of the audience are using the Borg as a crutch for lazy writing rather than come up with a new, more interesting villain/great evil.

Would Dahj have lived if Narek had been sent instead.

I am not so sure that Dahj's death was really a mistake at all, something is really eating at Rizzo but not Narek.
Agreed....And that truth coming out could be the proverbial straw the begins unraveling the relationship of the "Siblings"

Rob here, new to the forum! You guys have great forum.

I wanted to add a bit of a tangent to the ongoing conversation
-.Loved how the leadership styles of Janeway are Picard were reflected at the end of the episode...

Picard said something about trying to stop her from seeking vengeance...
AND THEN GAVE HER A PAIR OF PHASER RIFLES.
He knew what would happen next.

Janeway, on the other hand, would have BEAMED DOWN WITH HER to ride shotgun while screaming like a banshee.
That kid was family after all.
.Speaking of Janeway, I bet you all a dime Janeway is the leader of the Rangers. It would be in character for her to quit Starfleet like Picard but go rogue.

It would be a twist to discover the Borg were created to stop something and Picard and company will have to reactivate them. Maybe, Seven needs to become the new Borg Queen to make it work. That would be heavy shit for JL and Seven to face after talking about regaining their humanity.

After watching the fifth episode of Picard series, i have to say that i am disappointed.
I have been watching the Star Trek next generation series with my 12 year old son and we were very impressed and delighted from the innovative episodes that had plot , mystery and humor, new worlds, technology that gave us the impression that it was real and of course the best cast of actors that made an incredible combination. Now i watch episodes of Picard that is irrelevant to the old series with no mystery , suspense or humor and it is kind like a horror movie showing blood , stabbing, decapitation and no appropriate scenes for my kind of taste. At the end i don't have the anxiety and passion of watching the next episode that had with the older next generation series. That is my opinion nevertheless and i don't want to insult anyone.

The best thing about this episode is Manu Intiraymi’s meltdown in his Twitter. He’s really not doing okay :guffaw:

After siding with a pedo against a fellow Trek actor, begging on Twitter for a year to be cast in PIC, only to have his character recast and killed off before the main credits. I mean, that’s a brutal ‘h*ck you,’ if that’s what the intention was.

What's worse is the cringeworthy star trek fans declaring their undying love for him in the comments

I feel that Picard gave Seven the phasers but he hoped she would make the correct moral choice and not seek revenge. He was wrong because he was never Seven's role model/mentor, Janeway was. You're right that Janeway would've beamed down too and disintegrated everybody and so that's what Seven did.

I don't believe in the term "bad writing" which is why I have never and will never use it, I think its more to do with telling a story within a set period of time, corners are always having to be cut which can mean that viewers have to take leaps of logic or faith at times, they don't normally bother me unless they are silly.

At this point the signs do point in the direction of the Borg but they may have been created as a means to an end.

Hi Rob.

I would like to think that he knew, unless its another example of clueless Picard.

Not so sure about Janeway leading the Rangers though, she is too by the book for that.

somehow i think if you had to pick a part of Trek timeline to live in, Pic era would probably be dead last on anyone's list. It's interesting to see it on screen , but also sad to see that all those struggles of the past may have been for immediate gain only.

I thought I liked this show until I watched this episode. "/ Such a bleak and hopeless take on everything.

The Alternative Factor would like a word.

The fact that the TRUTH has been protected and defended for so long does point to it being the lesser of two evils.

The Borg could have been created to stop something worse but its too early to tell and its been done already in scifi.

Yeah, the Kelvan Empire showing up might be a problem.

We're seeing the rough spots where bad shit is happening. The typical Federation citizen may be happy as a clam in their blissful ignorance.
