basically this new trek just took a giant dump onto roddenberry's vision and they laugh their ass off while they do it too.

can you elaborate or ist this another hit and run?
If Gene didn't start spinning in his grave after "In The Pale Moonlight", I think we're good here.
So what did they dump on? That there is money? That train left the station in TOS, TNG, DS9...
I'm not here to change the views of fanatics or professional promoters. Just pointing out the obvious so you have no excuse when this show becomes another footnote of failure in the history of television.
In a previous episode they didn't even respect the fact that officers of the Starfleet itself couldn't possibly have income gaps and they had a main character personally attack Picard for being "too rich".

So you think the lowliest Ensign has the same access to those bitchin' ocean view apartments like Admiral Kirk has in The Wrath of Khan and The Search for Spock?

Face it, Star Trek's handle on money never made a damn bit of sense. It was created by someone with no grasp of economics.

All Picard states is that they have eliminated the need for material possessions. People have their basic needs meet and freedom to pursue things as they desire. Joseph Sisko's café, latinum, Beverly's fabric, are all things that demonstrate that there are unique items within the Federation economy.

The Federation itself certainly could have gone $$$-less as a rule, but the rest of the galaxy is another story.

I doubt they would take currency with Surak's face on it. :shifty:

What about those Canadian $5 bills people were drawing Spock's face on?

Well, I need to go dive into my Scrooge McDuck gold coin chamber paid for by CBS for all the influencing I do. Remember, CBS All Access costs less per month then your average fast foot lunch bill, and it includes all your favorite Star Trek series, and The Good Fight!
