finally watched and holy shit was that a great episode.
first of all: Icheb. trying to erase VOY from my memory I totally forgot about that character. I can't remember how close 7 and him were, but Ryan's acting was superb and sold me on that idea that he was the closes she had to a son.
Raffi's scenes with her son were chilling, so damn well acted although I hated to see the ugly Bermantrek Romulan hairstyle return for her son's spouse.
Multiple shout outs to Quark, which was nice and I always suspected Mot to be shady enough to open a barbershop on a planet like Freecloud.
Vergessen, was a nice shout out to Dr. Mengele and various other Nazi doctors and their experiments. Of course the planet had a German name.
See also: Fenris rangers, namedafter the planet Fenris. I guess colonized by Scandinavians?
The Jurati twist came earlier than suspeced.

Best episode yet. Naturally, I gave it a 7, because ratings are a joke. #VoteSeven!

I get, sorta, why they recast Maddox. It's not that Brophy is expensive or "quit acting" (he's a theater professor in Southern California, of course he's 100% available), they just wanted to hire an actor for a role with some gravitas. I expect more Maddox flashbacks in the future.

Icheb was killed off gruesomely. Intiraymi would've been far better than Casey King, even though I guess it was a flashback to nine years after Voyager and 13 years before Picard, necessitating a young adult Icheb and not one in his forties. But Intiraymi should've been fine in a short role with a proper wig and makeup to hide any age discrepancy. I think he probably balked at the idea, and they went with someone else. Still Intiraymi was a major, multi-season recurring actor, with major plotlines and entire episodes devoted to his character. A big difference over the recasting of Maddox.

It causes me worry over who they might recast next. Naomi? Harry Kim? The Outrageous Okona? They spoiled us with Jonathan Del Arco.

I was waiting for the scene where Team Stardust decides to visit Mr. Mot's Hair Emporium and recruit another old friend to his cause. A shame they left Seven (#VoteSeven!) to be picked up by the Rangers. She should've tagged on for the rest of the season as another main character. Would've loved to see her interactions with "the Artifact", given that she has all this active Borg hardware.

Also loved that Seven (#VoteSeven) was a completely new character, emotionally. It's been 22 years since we last saw her. She's not a robot no more, or Spock wannabe. She evolved. Except, you know, for looking the exact same 13 years ago. They should've put her hair up for the 2386 scene.

Is it me, or did Picard give away two Phaser Rifles to Seven that didn't belong to him?

I could've swore Picard didn't bring weapons with him when he went aboard Rios' ship.

Ergo, those Phaser Rifles that he gave away to Seven belonged to Rios?

And can we all just take a moment and thank the Baby Jesus that we didnt have any Narek-Soji snooze scenes this week? That crawling, oozing, slow motion story arc is a buzz-killer. Hopefully tonights up-tempo is a sign of things to come.

Nothing LOL like the revolting idea that characters in Star Trek's Federation Utiopia might also be sexual beings, resulting in fans to invoke a character who is famous for not being the result of something as unseemly as F**king.

Not exact same, obviously Jeri Ryan has aged.

But she's aged like FINE WINE!!!!

Stil HOT!

The first scene of the episode is set "13 years ago" (2386) while the rest is set "now" (2399). Their doesn't appear to be any change in style or appearance between those two scenes, with Seven still being a legendary Fenris Ranger the entire time. That scene would've worked better if they gave Icheb a different uniform and slapped "13 weeks ago" onscreen.

Ooo. I said people shouldnt be sexual beings? I don't recall saying that. Not what I was referring to. Let's not argue for the sake of arguing.

So I guess this needs to get up on Amazon...where's the crazy activity? C'mon guys, I'm home for the day and caffeinated up!

She evolved.
And rebelled. And she even had a plan!

Guess Rios will put it on his tab. I'm looking forward to the scene where Rios tries to collect his payment and Picard tries to give him the "we work to improve ourselves" spiel.

ETA: Goddamn, ninja'd twice!

I remember that, but I still think it's supposed to be Picard as Locutus.

They probably didn't want to spend the small fortune it would take to make Sir Patrick Stewart look thirty-some-years younger.
And I'm almost positive that he did not want to go through that makeup again.
Suspect new fans need to see Locutus.

Looks like you have been stood up.

The thread is surprisingly quiet, although many probably haven't seen it yet, I will have to wait until tomorrow however from what I have seen I do not think its going to be as big a talking point as some of the other episodes.
