I remember that, but I still think it's supposed to be Picard as Locutus.

They probably didn't want to spend the small fortune it would take to make Sir Patrick Stewart look thirty-some-years younger.
And I'm almost positive that he did not want to go through that makeup again.

Nah, remember that all drones are hairless & also this actor, makeup & costume look nothing at all like Locutus. They seem to have gone to some effort to keep the visuals of past elements the same right down to the old TNG uniforms so doubt they would change this. They have been burned with the DSC Klingons already.

Haha... I called it! I said after last week's episode I thought it might work better if we stayed away from the cube plot in episode 5, then draw the threads of both plots together in episode 6.

Anyhoo... I ended up enjoying this one. Loved the hint of the Voyager theme at the end. Icheb? yeah... he was never my cup of tea but that was a brutal way to go. I joked to my partner "we're minutes into introducing two Voyager characters to Picard and one of them has already been knocked off". Good spot on the cortical node line - that flew over my head.

Seven has widened her palate beyond replicator food supplements to straight bourbon. Damn! Quite a different Seven. But the Seven we're accustomed to was fresh out of the Collective, relatively speaking. She's been in the AQ for what, at least two decades? Obviously things didn't pan out with her and Chuckles ... pity. ;)

And finally Agnus. Dear oh dear. As soon as she looked up when Soji was mentioned I thought Bruce was a goner. What is it she knows that would motivate her to kill her friend / mentor / lover? Color me intrigued. Presumably it relates to the Zhat Vash's secret "so profound and terrible, just learning it can break a person’s mind." What do the twins represent? Does their existence threaten to set a series of events in motion that could destroy all life (DON'T say Control!). Does it tie in with the genesis of The Borg?

Bring on next week!

Picard himself bringing the outrageous French accent... :guffaw:

Will Rios's smellability and chemical manipulation thereof put the "Rios is a hologram" thing to rest? (Doubt it, can't wait to wade through the rationalizations...)

So Jurati seems to not be mind controlled, but working for Oh willingly after whatever Oh presumably shared with her in that meld.

Raffi's reason for wanting to go to Freecloud was insightful.

I'm loving Elnor from what we saw of him...the way he's bringing the completely guileless thing.

Disheartening was the implication only Seven bothered to rescue Icheb. They could at least have namedropped Paris or someone or a reassurance to Icheb that the Doctor would heal his injuries or something.

Seriously, that scene would have been improved by name drops of characters who weren't in it--nor likely even in the neighborhood, given what we learned of what Seven was up to--how?

Because "Planet forgotten" sounds stupid XD
"Forgotten Planet" has a bit of a ring to it, tho.

This episode certainly circles back to the Star Trek as scifi noire that the show opened up with, included a fair number of noir tropes to waggle in front of the audience. I've always been a fan of the genre, but I can see it continuing to bother Trek purists who would have prefered such tropes to remain on the holodeck with Dixon Hill instead of in active practice in the Federation proper.

Don't know if this has been mentioned yet but did anyone notice the QUARKS BAR sign in the background with the shot of Rios on Freecloud? About 15:55 in...I just got to that part and proceeded to totally freak out and fist pump the air screaming "YESSSS!" for a few minutes...now I need a smoke break and will resume watching the episode in a few minutes. Updates to follow!

That was not the original Icheb? Honestly I didnt even remember Icheb until tonight. So, no loss. And it was not the original Maddox? Same difference. Lets remember that they let Michelle Hurd ACT in this episode. And she delivered a 10/10 performance. So not just a salty schmuck after all. Seven was great. She was even greater after beaming back down to vaporize that Mengele monster. Rios as a 70s Manhattan Master of Funk was hilarious. The French human traffiker persona of Picard was a tiny bit silly, but did not ruin the scenes. I was afraid this episode would be campy-cringe. It was the opposite.

There is a clear difference between not quite drilling into an eye before the cut, and pulling an eye out in a bloody close-up... or not XD
I was referring to the other scene where you watch many crew members being assimilated
