Spoilers Jonathan Del Arco as Hugh

I got some gay vibes from Hugh. Is the the actor gay or just something trek are playing with? Asexuality maybe?
What the Hell difference does that make?
I rather doubt that the character's sexual orientation is an important part of the overall story.
:wtf:

Are we sure about that? I mean, he WAS a drill sergeant after all.
Mr. Ross use to say in his TV show that even though it was required he yell, didn't like doing it.
It's one of the reasons he left the Military.
Though he was eternally grateful that the Army sent him to Alaska, he fell in love with the place.
:techman:

I can't remember the last character in canon star trek that's gone so long without a screen appearance. I like how the character is clearly the same, but he's been out of the collective a long time, most of his life now, and he's more Hugh than ever.

Someone in another thread said they didn't recognize Del Arco when he appeared in STPic, so didn't realize it was the same character. The shape of his face seems pretty recognizable to me.

Zephram Cochrane? That was 29 years. Hugh was only 27 in comparison.

I believe Vina and Una would also qualify.

Harry Mudd as well. 1967 (or 1973) to 2017. So 50 (or 44) years.

But Vina takes the cake for winner with Number One at a very close second.

Don't forget the Keeper too! So, for all three: first appearance 1966, next appearance 2019 -- 53 years!

How about Pike? First appeared 1966, next in 2009 -- 33 year gap.

I read an interview with Del Arco in a 1990s Trek magazine, and the backstory of the origins of High in what he witnessed in the AIDS-related dementia of his partner never came up. His orientation, for that matter, never came up.

I really do appreciate that this can surface now.

Are we supposed to believe that Hugh would have those scars in a era that someone can be made to look like a Romulan and back again with no apparent ill effects?

Surely the Romulans would want to be able to keep tabs on people they regard as one of their worst enemies?

You're assuming that the Romulans see the Borg as their equals (they don't).

I loved it when they called him “Hugh” and I was like “Oh shit! That’s HUGH!!!! The borg!”

I felt like a million dollars.

Haven’t seen episode 4, but I like Hugh’s portrayal in this. Hopefully they’ll have more of him.

Seven also still has the Borg implant around her eye. Guess some implants can't ever be removed, even if the individiual is free from the collective.

If anyone is interested in what Jonathan looked like under that Borg makeup all those years ago
