Michael Chabon vs Trekkies

"Listen. No human society will ever be perfect, because no society will ever be perfect."

The fanciful notion that 24th century humans are "perfect" and have overcome every imaginable prejudice and vice is one I'm quite happy to toss in the dustbin. Humans striving to better themselves in spite of their flaws? Yes.

As for the swearing: It's a bit of an adjustment seeing Jean-Luc exist in a universe that now contains f-bombs, I admit. But it's an adjustment I'm happy to make. Chabon is spot on, IMO.

It begs the question, "just what IS perfect?" And that question will never be answered.

Perfection, like beauty, is in the eye of the beholder.

In this Instagram video, Picard showrunner Michael Chabon discusses the reasoning behind some of the show's more divisive creative choices

It's almost like they put a great deal of thought into this Picard series;)

Excellent! And there is a lot of truth in the argument about things assuming their ideal shape (or whatever he said). I once visited an old Roman outpost near Frankfurt. On display were shoes, coins, kitchenware (pots, plates, cups), etc... Many looked like they were designed yesterday, despite being about 2000 years old. Some things just don't change.

What’s funny is someone asks him a question dropping the F bomb and Chabon gets upset at the poster. Really?

:lol::lol:

Did he imply that Oh may not be Vulcan?

He used his typical convoluted wording because of his ego, but a simple version is “She wore sunglasses to intimidate the Dr.” as her profile suggests she is vulnerable to such a tactic.
Chabon then basically bashes cops and the military who wear sunglasses because yes, they are effective and he does not like that. Thus having C-Oh wear sunglasses.

At least that’s my personal take on it in reality.
But....
I’m secretly hoping she is a surgically altered Reman from the mirror universe trying to stop Hugh and Seven from launching a Borg invasion into the mirror universe by duping a brother and sister who are into incest by tricking them that they are working for her, when in fact they are quadruple agents following the orders of Admiral Clancy of which C-Oh is aware of, and is using threats of murder to get them to do what she wants, all at the command of Captain Lorca who was revived by Data’s positronic molecules and is secretly out for revenge on the long missing USS DISCOVERY.

Wut? How about, he'd rather not give stuff away and would rather the audience find out from the show. :shrug: Is that so outrageous?

He did? Was that on the Instagram or somewhere else?

He got upset? Where was this?
