    So Jake says, "Ya Boring"

Eleanor from The Good Place says "Ya Basic".

Boy Schur loves taking gags from previous shows. I know he talks about it all the time on the Good Place Podcast, but it's really noticeable when you know what you're looking for.

I didn't really enjoy the Hawkins framing Jake and Diaz storyline that much (I thought it was uneven and rushed) but it was made up by Jakes proposal. I knew it was coming but that did catch me off guard considering it was a Halloween Heist episode.

Does Gina appear at all in Season 5? I know she was pregnant during Season 4 but she's pretty much non-existent in Season 5 so far, except for Fake Gina in the Halloween episode.

And she appeared in the Christmas episode. That's good.

The proposal caught me completely off-guard.

Gina seems to be back in S6 (so far) to be honest if I had to lose a cast member I'd choose her before anyone else, and if she did go hopefully they'd elevate Hitchcock and Scully to the main titles. they're funnier than she is IMHO.

While there are funny moments with her, I find her a little more mean spirited now. I remember that season 4 episode where Amy is trying to teach her how to change a flat tire and Gina came across more of a brat than trying to be funny.

I'm surprised they haven't already given Hitchcock and Scully spots in the title sequence. It seems like in Season 4 and Season 5 they've become more main characters than even Terry.

I like Gina better than Hitchcock/Scully. Don’t like the “Dumb fat gross guys everyone makes fun of” characters in any shows.

In season 6 though she leaves her job and hasn’t been back, not sure if it’s permanent or not.

Gina can be mean sometimes but she represents a generation younger than me in a unique and cool way. There’s no other Ginas on television but there’s a zillion dumb fat gross guys. Seen one, seen em all.

I think I have a new favorite cold open. The Backstreet Boys scene was fantastic. :guffaw:

I don't know if anyone read my Discovery post from last week about how things on that show haven't felt earned and the emotional moments have left me feeling empty. The reason for that is because the writers on that show don't really know how to do character development, and heavy moments that should resonate haven't for me, like the letter writing scene or Airiam's sacrifice.

How does this relate to Brooklyn 99? I just watched the episode where Rosa was involved in an active shooter situation but the rest of the episode takes place back at the precinct. I've been watching this show for a few weeks (So close to being caught up I might be getting carried away with the binge) and this is really awesome at those tender character moments. This episode deals with a heavy subject, but it does it in a humorous, but serious way I was compelled to the screen. And then when Rosa returns, that scene feels earned because this show did the smart thing of showing the emotional toll rather than outright action on the scene. This episode was well done, and it reminded me of the Moo Moo episode, dealing with racial profiling and how it became a personal story rather than a lecture. This is social commentary done really well and really right.

Man I'm glad I got into this show. I think my top 2 sitcoms ever might both be Mike Schur shows now: Parks and Recreation and Brooklyn Nine-Nine.

Well, I'm all caught up to the current. Boy Season 6 has a much different vibe than the previous seasons. There's more seriousness going on, and yeah it is a little preachy. This Casecation episode I was a little taken aback by Amy. For someone who was so gungho about her career being excited to be a Sargent, forcing Jake to make a decision about having children felt really wrong.

It kind of feels like instead of this season being about the characters of the precinct, it's about the headline topic of the week. The episode where Jake had someone deported was out of character for Jake too. I think the only episode I've really loved this season was The Honeypot episode with the new hire and sticking it to the commissioner. That felt like very classic B99, and actually made me laugh in the end.

We can use this thread to talk about the current episodes now. Looking forward to seeing how this season goes. I'm a little bummed we aren't getting a Halloween Heist episode or a Christmas episode though. I guess that's a sacrifice to starting midseason.

I agree this season has been not as good as the others. But, I don't think it's more preachy, I like the way the show has taken on difficult issues. Just like they took on cops' treatment of black people in previous seasons.

I didn't mind Amy forcing Jake into a decision. She was wrong not to bring it up BEFORE the marriage. But if she is sure she wants kids, she's on a timer.

It's hard to put a finger on what's different about this season. There seems to be less of the Family Guy style cutaways. I don't know if the writing staff changed a lot.

I really enjoyed last weeks B99. Kevin is always fun (Marc Evan Jackson brings so much to the roles he has) but more than anything it felt like a return to form of the quick, snappy dialogue that I like.

I read today that the Annual Halloween Heist is going to be episode 16, and they are moving the Heist to Cinco De Mayo. Really looking forward to that episode now.

I like the way they progressed the Doug Judy saga this year. Making his sister the new lovable criminal.

That might be my favorite heist episode. I was cracking up laughing the whole time.

I liked the finale. The way they brought back all the series big villains and then installed Wunch as interim commissioner.

Bringing this thread back up because the new season of B99 started tonight. I've only see the first episode, "Manhunter" but I thought it was hilarious. Loved Rosa helping Amy out and Terry thinking they were talking about him. Also really liked Debbie and that will be an interesting dynamic if Debbie sticks around and Holt is just an officer all season long. The dialogue felt really fast paced, which was something I liked from the earlier seasons. I didn't realize until I started watching that I did miss this show in the last year.

I hope we see more Captain Kim. I really liked her and by the end of the episode I wouldn't have minded if she had stayed for the season.

Wonder if we will be getting a new Captain in each ep?
And I want to see how Kevin is dealing with his husbands demotion.
