News Brent Spiner Returned for "Picard" (and you could do the CGI better in 15 minutes, we get it)

Yeah, something is different. But we have to admit, his original FC uniform didn't always have a perfect fit too. It also looked different in Nemesis.

That probably has more to do with the fact that they're using modern cameras for this show, that are much less forgiving than they were 20 years ago. I've seen some of these costumes up close at exhibitions and they can be surprisingly shoddy (especially the old red movie uniforms) this one looked authentic to me.
Incidentally; good quality cosplay uniforms are generally *better* than most of the screen used stuff precisely because it needs to last and hold up to close inspection. The production costumes didn't have that requirement.

Digital cameras aren't *that* much better than film cameras. Not in that way, at least. Keep in mind that digital and film cameras can mount the exact same lenses, that lenses have barely changed in decades, and that lenses make a bigger difference in clarity than the recording media.

HD can be unforgiving. In particular, it's more obvious when people are slightly out of focus, when prosthetics didn't quite fit, or the black paper they used to mask glares on the S1 TNG bridge. The costumes? They're less elaborate than today's, but most of them weren't shoddy at the time of shooting.

The costumes used in PIC 1:1 just aren't as well fitted as their TNG or movie counterparts, the movie one uses wrong material on the yoke of the jacket. But whatever. They work their intended effect. It was chilling seeing data in the uniform he died in.

I still think they could have done a better job with Data. Here's my version (a younger, thinner face, slightly darker eyes, higher hairline and corrected position of rank pins):

...or was Data’s zipper hanging from the turtleneck bug anyone else?

It feels like there was a version of this season with AI Soong was actually Maddox, but they probably realized, "Well, Maddox is such a minor character to be given this much importance in the narrative so let's make him a long-lost Soong so Brent can play the part." Which necessitated them setting up and then inexplicably murdering Maddox (consequence free, Jurati, you lucky devil!) so that he wouldn't be hanging around, redundantly, during the final episodes.

Yes, it looked strange. His entire look was strange. But it seems he had bigger pupils now and a different wig. So they had to spent less time in fixing these things in post.

Since it's a simulation they could have shown him as a real human being, with no make--up and no retouching. Problem solved.
