Dune 2018 (19,20,21...)

I guess I'll mention this here, there's a new Dune novel from Brian Herbert and Kevin J Anderson due in October called Duke of Caladan that's listed on Amazon but nowhere else. Not an wikis, not on the official Dune site, BH and KJA don't even mention it on their Twitters.
https://www.amazon.com/Dune-Duke-Ca.../ref=tmm_hrd_swatch_0?_encoding=UTF8&qid=&sr=
Is it possible this might be the graphic novel mentioned above, or is it an actual new prose novel?

Must be a prose novel tying into the film's release as it has an audiobook version and is 426 pages long according to the publishers page on it.

I gave up on the new "Dune" novels after Paul ran away and joined the space circus. I couldn't take it anymore at that point.

Animation.

With the exception of the direct-to-DVD/Blu-Ray/4K DC Comics movies like Flashpoint that were animated in the 'realistic' anime style used in Golgo 13, Titan A.E. and that animated segment of Kill Bill, I (sadly) doubt that anybody will want to make an animated Dune movie trilogy; American animators aren't interested in pushing the boundaries of animation anymore, which is why there's a lot of pissiness directed at the major studios from web sites like Cartoon Brew over how cookie cutter American mainstream commercial animation is.

I don't what else about Leto they could tell. He already got three decent books.
"Decent" being a measurement of size, not quality I'm sure:biggrin:

Duke of Caladan could be any other Atreides. Maybe it's "The Old Duke's" (Leto's dad) origin story:shrug:

Ah the one who Jessica wished had died before Leto was born.

Hasn't he been featured in one of the non-Frank Herbert books already?

He was in the House Atreides book I think (haven't read it since it came out), but it was really Leto's origin story

It could be, the title could make sense if the first split is Leto's death.

It turns out we are not only getting the movie later this year, EW has revealed that we are also going to be getting the first ever graphic novel adaptation of the first Dune book in October. This will be the first of a three part adaptation, written by (shudder) Brian Herbert and Kevin J. Anderson, with art by Raul Allen and Patricia Martin, and covers by Bill Sienkiewicz. Brian Herbert does say in the EW article that it will be "faithful graphic novel adaptation", so hopefully they'll just stick to his dad's stuff. The article also reveals the designs for Paul, Duke Leto, and Lady Jessica.

The art looks awesome. I'll surely be picking up the graphic novel. Although, I wished Paul Pope would do a Dune comic...

Just for a giggle, read the biographical information on KJA on the Amazon page. It's much longer than Brian's information, and so full of nauseating praise that I bet KJA wrote it himself.

And Brian's information lists every trivial job he ever had. :guffaw:

Back when I was a teenager I "worked" for what was probably the biggest Dune fan site at the time and I got John Harrison's email prior to the first miniseries being released because he wrote his own IMDB bio and didn't use a throw away account

Which Dune fan site was that?
