There was even graffiti in that alley in the city that the android girl was at. Does this mean there are gangs in the future? If so, whatever happened to crime and deviance being basically eliminated in the 24th century?

It was artistic expression, of course. :)

And, honestly, even today graffiti is hardly the sole province of gangs. I'm sure they have rebellious teenagers and avant-garde street artists in the future.

I really liked how we got to see a good bit of what civilian life on earth is like in the 24th century. That's something we really never saw in any of the prior series (or even in the movies).

That being said, it looked more like present day earth (but with flying cars) rather than the shiny and clean utopia I was picturing in my head for years. As i mentioned in the lit forum, i believe they canonized the fact of Paris being a museum city like it was depicted in some of the novels and short stories.

I like how history is beginning to repeat itself. In the 90s it was all about DS9 vs Voyager (even though the majority liked both). Now it might become Discovery vs Picard (and of course the majority will like both). Hopefully the arrival of 5-7 more shows will confuse everyone and end it :)

Don't forget "Babylon-5 vs. DS9," "Disco vs. Orville," "Star Trek vs. Star Wars," "Marvel vs. DC." etc.

The internet loves it feuds.

Ah, so that graffiti we saw was three hundred years old and protected by cultural heritage laws.

Could be that that was simply a reproduction ;) It's interesting that Dahj was hiding there. Seems to hint that the district actually was simply kept this way for historical and cultural reasons and nobody actually lives there, as possibly hinted at by showing the empty streets...

unless all of the production team are lying, they said that storyline is over and they don't plan to do anything with Control again.
They may just call it something else so as not to give anything away.

Or alternatively it is over which is fine too.

we have excactly that, graffiti from the second world war, protected by cultural heritage laws, the graffitti says to "be true/faithful to our king"....

There were plenty of graffiti in a city not far from where I used to live and not the shadow of a gang.

You people are missing the obvious:

* Graffiti and run-down areas
* Picard's dog has docked ears - often seen on dogs involved in dog fighting - ergo Picard is involved in dog fighting
* Notice how Picard gets a little blade on his belt - likely to shank anyone who talks back
* How does Picard have servants in a moneyless socialist utopia - they are indentured!
* Notice how in the first dream sequence - Data's badge is crooked

Taken all together - it's clear signs that the Federation is a dystopia!

Picard is a clear sign that despite what a lot of youtubers think, the current production team know what they are doing. I'm also calling it now, but if Picard is any indication, I think we're in for a treat with Discovery season 3.
You say that but there is that story if Marina coming to work on her first day and asking where her wig and contact lenses were and they had no idea what she was talking about. Luckily she still had them from Nemesis.
You’d think they would have done some research into her character.

Her character wore contact lenses?

Re-read that story please. You got it wrong.

Her character wore contact lenses?
All Betazoids in the franchise have. The species doesn't have eye colours, they're just black.
