Oh those wonderful screencaps....

Picard: "So this channel called 'The Pensky File' gave me a half-decent review. Promising!"

Too bad show is not in 4K, would have been cooler to see even higher res screencaps.

Also, streaming 4K = less detail than Blu-Ray 2K... 4K Blu-Ray =

Since the subtitles exist out there, paired with the screen caps, you can "watch" the entire episode.

If it were shot in 4K, would there be the same number of low-res ships, or far fewer hi-res ones?
In my ignorance I assumed this was shot in 4k and only held back for streaming. Apparently not. I guess it really doesn't matter too much, as it looks great. In some ways these shows point out how marginal 4K is in terms of improvement and how slow it takes media to catch up to the available technology. Widescreen took forever in SD, then HD was all over the place with 720P, 1080i, etc. 4K screens have been the norm at the large end for about 4 years and there is very little content. I think people only really care because they want the best, but when it comes down to it, 1080p on a decent screen is fine. 4K on an OLED looks better, but unless you have them side by side, you won't really notice anything is "missing."

8K should only be looked at as an improvement in reliability. 1 dead pixel results in a 4k image having a 4K quad pixel at 75% instead of being dead. It really is only needed in VR or for some large curved screen monitor designed to give you the workspace of 4 4k screens.

4K requires a viewing angle greater than that where you can comfortably see the detail - SMPTE recommend 30 degrees, 4K is only really visible above that. THX recommend 40 degrees but that’s for a far more immersive environment
