But the cold hard truth of the matter, in regards to Dahj, they gave me more to care about in 45 minutes than they have Michael Burnham in two seasons of Discovery.

In a lot of ways Dahj feels like Michael Burnham done right, which is why the reflexive youtubers decided they hated Picard before they even saw it. Brilliant young women with amazing combat skills who's undergoing horrible emotional trauma turning her world upside-down.

Except the writing - and Isa Briones - sell it 100%.

Wow that was incredible, I hate that I have to wait a week now for more.

When I saw that full painting I immediately thought of Lal.

I mean if Dahj and her sister are based on that painting they must also be based on Lal, right? There is no other reason for Data to name one of his paintings Daughter if it wasn't about Lal?

DS9 had many other episodes!
:guffaw::guffaw::guffaw:

Would a sentient hologram be a "Synth," though? It's light beams and force fields and not a physical being that's part or all technology taken from past scientists who toyed with creating an artificial human being.
Plus, it's far easier to reprogram a hologram than to reset an entire being like Data (who I'm sure didn't have a reset button installed like C3PO ;) )

Still, that's a valid question and I'd love a flashback that showed him and Admiral Janeway teaming up to have a go at the rest of top brass if some harm came to him. I hear Kate Mulgrew has free time not filming OItNB and all :p

No, it wouldn't be. Needless references to characters not appearing in the show or having any connection to its events are pointless and shouldn't happen.

If somebody who cares for him deeply is in the show, and it directly relates to the main theme, it's not pointless at all.

That might be one of the best tributes that both Data in-universe and the producers of the franchise could give Lal. His painting in her memory and honor resulted in the creation of two Synths, both of which will play a critical role in the newest series.

I wonder if the Quantum bits are actually from Lal and not Data? Maddox figured out how to stabilize the positronic brain.

If Kurtzman had anything to do with this, he’s redeemed himself in my eyes. If he didn’t, I hope he stays away going forward, too. Either way, they should just keep doing what they’re doing.

I'm curious of what you thought of the episode considering you spoiled yourself of so much of it!!

So....?

(forgive me if you already answered this, but this thread is like a runaway train at this point.)

LOVED IT. No regrets about the spoilers. And another massive thanks to you, kind sir.

Oh boy! More evil Starfleet and Section 31 fan fiction headed our way!
Not the first thing I would think of, but there will always be fanfic-ers who default to that, no matter the era in question. The popular fanfic-ers on this board are a little more sophisticated than that. And the ones on AO3 seem more interested in romance, so...

Also, fuck Section 31. Not because of "Gene's Vision" or whatever, but because it's almost always done poorly. I'd rather pretend it doesn't even exist.

I think Discovery could learn a lot from "Remembrance".

Like how to spend a notable section of your running time wallowing in sentimentality? Considering how many people complained about the messages left at the end of Disco season 2, I can't imagine that's the lesson learned here.
