That guy at the end acted more a teen heartthrob at the end than a Romulan. Very strange to see a Romulan act like that.
I don't like him already.

TO ME he was obviously playin' that poor girl.

(I know that the idea, I just dislike those kinda folks)

How didn't the events told in this match with what Spock said in Star Trek 09? I might have to rewatch this episode. Maybe I missed it lol.
The years don’t add up and it was a different star that went nova, which somehow, also destroyed Romulus. In typical JJ fashion, that’s never explained of course. :)

Yes but he’s making a point that the events told in this don’t match up with what Spock says in ‘09 making people think that it might be a different Spock. I did find it odd that they didn’t mention him.

They match up fine. All Spock really says is that there was a supernova that destroyed Romulus.

In UK so cant watch until tomorrow 24th on Amazon Prime.

Seems like the overall reception is positive so far which is good to see, I get the feeling that Picard isnt going to be as polarising as Disco.

Will we see Lore, or (even more interesting) Juliana again? She was the closest thing to Dahj so far.

Agreed. He’s probably Tal Shiar, acting like that to get info of her.
Probably watched many CW shows to know how to seduce women. Using his dead brother for one.

From what we saw in the trailers, he is going to get A LOT more than just info.

Me too. The wording is vague so you could take it either way. Which means that "picard" doesn't actually contradict it, it clarifies it.
But the issue there is that it went nova, and then they organised a plan to save Romulus. They wouldn’t have had the time to do that if it was their sun as it would only take minutes to hit them.

Could be that there were signs that the sun was going to destroy itself, but that exact timing couldn't be calculated or it suddenly went a lot faster than expected.

Correct. If it had been the Romulan star that exploded I doubt they would have had time to do anything.

There had to have been enough time between discovering the threat and the actual explosion for Spock and the Vulcan Science Academy to work on the Red Matter. That can't have been an overnight creation, even for scientists as adept as Vulcans and Spock.

Which is why it's so beautifully consistent.

A supernova should be predictable, years in advance. Hence an evacuation fleet.

OTOH, a supernova wouldn't be predictable down to the minute. Hence Spock launching on a mission and nevertheless being late. He must have launched before there was an explosion, because after an explosion, nothing would be unpredictable and Spock would not launch on a hopeless mission.

No distant star could meet all the criteria for Spock's mission. As of now, everything ever stated about it holds true in the same universe. Except perhaps for Spock's hyperbole of the kaboom threatening the galaxy. Although that, too, may pan out - loss of Romulus will not go without major interstellar consequence.

Now, did we hear anything about planets other than Romulus (and perhaps Remus?) being lost?

Just rewatched the clip and it says that a star goes nova (which could destroy the galaxy, whatever that means) and Spock comes up with a plan to save Romulus. He stops it with red matter but it was too late to save the planet.
