https://twitter.com/i/status/1215795056763908096 Also, apparently he has been getting death threats from some Star Wars crazies who convinced themselves that there is a REAL love triangle between John, Daisy, and Adam. They were furious to learn that it wasn't true. Moving this to the correct forum.
Well, Brent Spiner left Twitter preemptively before Picard premiered, presumably because he knew the Trekkie crazies would start attacking him about anything they didn't like... I suppose that's still better than racist death threats because an imagined love triangle isn't real...
Yeah, any fandom has outlets for the truly nutty to be heard now. In the SW forums ppl seem (seem! I could be wrong) to get more . . . into? their arguments. It's late and I'm not wording things well.
Yeah, Trekkies would never threaten death threats...oh wait, yeah that happened to Abrams, Nimoy and Meyer. I've been on both styles of sites. They are equally crazy.
Well, we know some ST actors have received death threats. Let us not forget in 2019, some despicable woman pretty much wished Shatner had died instead of Nimoy, for some triggered, idiotic reason I will no go into here.
Unfortunately it's part of the human condition. Haven't there been death threats in sports? Say for example against soccer players deemed responsible for their teams losing.
Only 2 days ago the Manchester United 'fans' were chanting en masse for the owners of the club to be burnt to death so yeah.
I got to assume at this point every famous person has received death threats. People are drawn to the power and invest so much of themselves into other people's lives to a point where it is unhealthy. What's worst is it has now spread I believe to regular folks as well. To me cancel culture is kind of a extension of this very old problem. People demanding others to conform to their wishes and getting angry when they don't. Thinking they know things about complete strangers just because they can't tell the difference between a fictional character and the actor playing it or a tweet from a person's real life personality. One of the worst fandoms is the fandom for this show, which bullied a girl for drawing the main character's mother as being thin when she was-to be brutally frank-obese. Of course, because of how this show's regarded, it didn't get much attention in the media, because...socially conscious reasons. As for the subject, I hope that he's okay.
The one biggest problem with the internet is that it gives the worst people a chance to go public with their bullshit.
A follow-up to this post, with a reposting of the video criticizing the show for the crap that it is.
Are you the same person who was ranting about Steven Universe a few months ago or was that someone else?
Not to sound naïve, but I just don't believe these sorts of threats come from real fans. I believe threats are made but that come from folks who go around trolling celebrities.
