News? Stories from Dubious Sources

Here's some potentially positive news from never-heard-of-and-suspect sources. Click! Geeks World Wide reports Discovery has been renewed for season 4 and Short Treks season 3. They also state the Starfleet Academy series is still being worked on (which I've been hoping for since the first rumours)

Production weekly is reporting the same about DSC's season 4, and they seem to be a publication aimed at people working in the industry, and they have it as part of a huge info dump of new/renewed productions which makes it less likely to be for clicks, so that might be accurate (you have to search for Star Trek Discovery alphabetically to find it):

and at the same time the "deubious sources" are "reporting" DSC and PIC are dead. lower decks will be cancelled after season 1 and the nick series isn't happening and that jonathan frakes will never direct trek again after he left the set of picard in tears over how bad it was. everybody hates picard and people left in the middle of the london screening. *sigh*

I just don't get that group... I really don't.

It's conspiracy level thinking. It makes people feel powerful.

It's funny how they claim Frakes ran out when I just watched about the fifth interview with Sir Patrick in which he said Frakes will be back directing episodes in season 2.

What I love most is that their idiot fanboys still believe it even after it doesn't pan out for the 50th time.

And they're using the exact same "test audiences hated it" narrative that they used with Discovery. Word for word, even. And yet their fanboys drink up this kool-aid like soda. I honestly think it's a cult by now. How do these people go through their daily lives like this? It can't be healthy to have this much anger towards a television/movie franchise. And some of their "sources" are posts on 4chan. Which... says it all.

Because it isn't how they live their daily lives. They go to work, or do daily chores and routines. Perhaps they feel powerless in some way. The internet offers a way to validate what they believe goes on. It provides them access to "special knowledge" which makes them feel powerful. Challenging this thought system only validates it because "no one would argue against it if it were not true."

Its about power and control. If I feel out of power or out of control (as I often do) then I'm going to find ways to assert control in my life. For me, its unhealthy eating habits. For others, it is posting on the Internet. But, it comes down to a central point-power.

Story Link: Seth McFarlene's Plans For Star Trek

I think this whole NBC-Universal and Seth McFarlene having a meeting with CBS to purchase Star Trek was bunk, but the stories seem to keep popping up … so now I don't know. The first story I read a week or two ago said the meeting was supposed to have lasted 2 hours but ended after 30 minutes when McFarlene stormed out because CBS's asking price was too high (which caused me to believe the whole story was rubbish). If SW sold for $4 billion what would any potential buyer of Star Trek think the asking price would be? Not to mention Viacom-CBS selling off such a valuable and viable franchise sounds plain nuts to begin with.

PS: I did do a search prior to starting this thread so apologies if this is a repeat.

Why would CBS sell the one asset that is keeping All-Access afloat, and making them bank in the international markets?

It sounded more like someone's wish fulfillment than an actual rumor based on anything coming out of CBS or NBC.
