Here's my ship: USS Nautilus NCC-31910

Miranda-class, launched stardate 40513.7 from Jupiter Station. The Nautilus served with distinction during the Dominion War, and was present in many engagements during that conflict. The Nautilus has a crew of 156, and is currently under the command of Captain Victor Clark.

If you have a fan-based story, be it fanfic or a fan production, share an image of your ship in the comments, along with a brief bio of the ship and it's history!

    I said out, dammit!
Among my many (see sig), let's go with the USS Grand Alliance.

The constant diverting of exploration ships like the Enterprise for diplomatic ferry missions, led to a requirement for a dedicated diplomatic transport. Grand Alliance (named for the alliance of the Federation and Klingon governments at the time of her launching [around TNG season 2-3]), used a Galaxy class saucer outfitted as a luxurious diplomatic embassy, with staterooms for visiting diplomats and their families, large conference rooms to discuss treaties while underway to conferences proper at diplomatic centers like Babel, and numerous holodeck facilites to keep the VIPs and their kin occupied and not assassinating each other. The trailing aft hull section houses a vast hangar deck to park up to 100 visiting shuttlecraft of various sizes. Her quad of massive LF-41 warp nacelles give the ship a classified top speed faster (hopefully) than any hostile vessel that may try to attack her. Twin, syncronized warp reactors can be rerouted to power either upper or lower pair in the event of damage or nacelle failure.

    Home base: Earth, Starfleet HQ
    Captain: Capt. Anita DaVega

I've had a fanfic in progress for around 30 years . Some scenes from it are portrayed in the link above. When the movie is made (HA!) I want Pam Grier to play Capt. DaVega.

For me it is the USS Columbia (NCC-621). This has been my favorite since the Star Fleet Technical Manual was first published, and I have built a number of representations of her (both physical and CG) since then. My most recent was this scratch built version with experimental sensor masts.

I have a build page here and a gallery page here, but here are a couple additional shots of her in action...

    Liberty Class Notes
Designed by Starfleet Core of Engineers 2195
    First ship completed 2200
    Production run ends 2245

Designed primarily as a long term but small staffed research vessel and scout, the Liberty, was at the time, extremely fast and agile for her size. With an advanced scanner suite she was able to get accurate and quick scans and get out of a system quickly. As technology advanced, she began to be relegated into more of a research role and eventually began being used exclusively by civilians in the Federation. With large cabins, reliable propulsion and low maintenance, she became a favorite and still finds widespread use almost 75 years after her initial design and launch.

While most civilian versions only have the Deflector pod slung underneath the Engineering deck, options had been created that contained not only a Deflector but a probe launcher, or with some modifications, a proper photon torpedo launcher. These are a bit harder to come by as Starfleet dismantled those decades ago for use elsewhere. One popular modification is a cargo claw and a Deflector attachment on the lower saucer sensor dome allowing the Liberty to act as a light freighter by hauling cargo containers and cargo trains underneath the Engineering hull and out behind her.

The Liberty's warp nacelles house the M/AM reaction chambers as well as the Anitmatter pods which is reclaimed from the Fusion engines and processes involved in powering the ship. While the Liberty will have to re-fuel it's Dueterium after a stretch of long use, the Anti-Dueterium rarely, if ever, has to be replenished. It's Emergency systems include the ability to discard the nacelles as well as the standard emergency buoy and two life rafts that are integrated into the lift system and launch from behind the bridge on top of the saucer.

Equipped with a science suite, a 2 person sickbay, a 3 person transporter, and a large cargo bay for it's size as well as accommodations for the crew and several passengers, the Liberty has found service in recent years as a limited cargo and personnel transport.

I like this ship. Some additional ideas for ship use:
I envision a "transport" to be able to carry many more passengers than 12 for colony transport ships. For example, from This Side of Paradise:
KIRK: Mister Spock, there were one hundred and fifty men, women, and children in that colony.
Perhaps the SS ships like the Beagle could be older ships still regulated to merchant service scout/exploration duties:
SPOCK: SS Beagle. Small class four stardrive vessel. Crew of forty seven, commanded by. Jim, I believe you knew him. Captain R M Merik.
KIRK: Yes, at the academy. He was dropped in his fifth year. He went into the merchant service.
