I agree with just about everything except the age of the actor. All the Perry White actor needs to do is look older than Calista. For instance Keifer Sutherland these days easily looks old enough to play the role if he was so inclined.

I think my ideal choice for Perry White on this show would be Blu Mankuma. He's in the right age range, he's from Vancouver, and he's great at gruff-but-lovable authority figures.

I do remember him from his last regular live-action job when he did a season on Forever Knight and he was decent enough, although that was almost 25 years ago.

Actor age means very little when it comes to the "Super" corner of the Arrowverse, as evidenced by the castings of Hoechlin and Jon Cryer, who are significantly younger (Hoechlin) and older (Cryer) than the characters they play.

By coincidence, it turns out that Mankuma appeared on Smallville as the Planet's publisher Franklin Stern.

So, not quite the "Crisis" twist I was expecting (I had bought into speculation that Earth-38 Clark and Lois would end up adopting Earth-96 Superman's son Jason), but a twist nonetheless: Superman and Lois now have two sons on the merged Earth-Prime. I'm assuming Jonathan has been aged-up also, and that the boys (twins?) are the two teen boys for whom series casting calls went out a while back.

And Lex Luthor is positioned to be quite the well-resourced, establishment, ongoing threat.

Them adding a second son was definitely unexpected.
I wonder if we'll see Lex on both this and Supergirl, or if he'll move over to just this once it starts up?

I mentioned this on another thread, but there's nothing that indicates that both sons are biologically Superman's. One could be Demian Wayne, who lives in a world with a missing Batman. Or maybe Christopher Kent, son of Zod.

I'm hoping Superman gets a better costume and has the traditional red shorts.

And I would love to see some multiverse adventures for the Man of Steel as well. The only problem is that Routh outshined Hoechlin by a great margin.

Chris Kent would be an interesting possibility, especially if Zod eventually shows up. I know he's supposed to be dead, but this is a comic book universe, so that doesn't necessarily rule out him showing back up. Especially now that the universe has been reset.

I think you just answered your own point. Why does Zod have to be dead now?

The only thing that is in place is that Superman exists. Everything else can be reset, from power levels, to past adventures, to future adventures. Clever writing would acknowledge the changes, so if Zod shows, Superman could make a reference to that he was dead before, since he does remember pre-Crisis.

But my question is this--why didn't Clark know there were 2 sons? He was not a paragon. His memories should have been altered with the new universe, and in theory, he should have 2 sets of memories.

What I would also like to see happen is an aftermath story where we learn that everyone forgets about the pre-Crisis timeline.

That is what essentially happened in the comics. The heroes emerged with their memories in tact and then they were gone as the new universe kicked in full blast. I believe they did explain that, but I'm not sure exactly how and when.

In crisis itself - that is what the final scene with psycho-pirate was about. There were a few stories just after when characters reference it a bit about because they were firming up the concept but they quickly fade (They establish also a few characters like Darkseid who remember it all - he creates the parasite based on how he remembers the original being created).

Early 1990s Mark Waid introduces the idea that the heroes remember the crisis but as it happened in the merged universe which was about an invasion from the anti-matter universe not a multiverse. Later Johns takes it back to the original concept.

I doubt the characters in the shows will forget the pre-crisis worlds, they're probably going to want to be able to continue to use their histories from before.

Yup, the Paragons all remembered, and J'onn went around mind-melding the memories back into the other heroes' heads (with a total lack of regard for consent, by the way).

Yay, Superman. Now we just need Batman to appear in the Arrowverse.

He already did, two different versions actually. We got an older alternate universe Bruce Wayne in Crisis, and since Titans is now part of it's multiverse I think we can also count his appearances in it's second season.

Well, basically everything is part of the Arrow multiverse now, so if you're counting that, you might as well also count Adam West, Michael Keaton, etc.

But I think we should limit the use of "Arrowverse" to those continuities that have a continuing presence and interaction in the CW franchise outside of Crisis. Otherwise it's just all live-action DC ever and it loses all meaning. So a universe that just got a montage cameo or two wouldn't really count.

It got really tricky for me because there may be things that either weren't addressed or I never read. At this risk of going slightly off topic, let's take Superman.

Everyone in his life completely changed. Krypton completely changed. I don't know how many major characters had so many differences and everyone he knew, including Luthor, changed.

The post-Crisis Superman was never Superboy, and all those adventures never happened. He was nowhere near as powerful as Earth 1 Superman as well. Supergirl never existed.

But when Superman emerged from Crisis, he WAS still Earth 1 Superman. He buried Supergirl. And they all remembered.

    So something must have changed.

And what about Barry. Why did they remember him but not Supergirl?

If there was a post-Crisis Crisis, then who played the role of Supergirl?

Why did Barry stay dead on the reset? Kind of why did Oliver also stay dead?

I know today in Convergence, the events of COIE were completely wiped out and with the help of heroes of other Earths, the original multiverse was restored.

That's sadly something DC hasn't followed up on.

But there are so many questions. I am hoping that the CW version changed things as well, especially for Superman, and by the time Superman premieres, a similar effect will happen.

It would even be interesting if they addressed this issue on one of the shows.

That's an interesting issue. Is that better or worse? They have an opportunity to jettison continuity in continuity.

In fairness, it's hard to give consent when you can't make an educated decision, though this was a weak plot point. How could Jonn restore memories to events that never happened from the perspective of the non-paragons? These weren't hidden or suppressed memories like with Alex last year. Could Jonn give his memories to the others? Sure, and to that extent, he could educate them, but it makes no sense that Jonn could restore the ACTUAL memories.
