"SIRTIS: I haven’t seen it, so I’m just talking off the top of my head now – but I think basically because the show’s called ‘Picard’ [makes exaggerated air quotes]…. Although Patrick [Stewart] was number one on the call sheet [for ‘The Next Generation’], I think we were a real ensemble cast. I think in ‘Picard,’ it’s like Patrick… and the rest."

LMFAO! I love her she is ruthless; completley throws the entire new cast under the shuttle,:p like she knows they are meaningless and lucky to be in Stewart's orbit. While her's was a "real" ensemble cast. ...Not this new one.
So much Spiner feels he has to delicately walk her outrageous (but true) comments back.

"SPINER: Well, now at the moment, it is. I think these are really talented actors and a great ensemble; I think they’re all going to become fan favorites and they’re all gonna get their shot."

LOL, Nice save:D You can picture her eyes just rolling as he says that.

(Sorry about the multiple posts, thought I was done each time, ....then went on to read her next outrageous comment.)

On the ther hand the data make-up looks spot on (the shiny white-golden skin).

One wonders how Marina ever got a role as a counselor of all things with such brutal lack of tact... :O

From panel talks (pretty much brilliant stand up comedy) she proudly and quite hysterically, freely admits the sweet, non-judgmental, kind, person that is Troi. ...she is the exact opposite of it!

Yup. That proves just how good of an actor she is.

At first glance, I thought she said "I'm taking my top off now", and said to myself "This Picard series is alllll right!"

Great interview with Brent Spiner and Marina Sirtis.I'll be interested to find out what happened to Will Riker and Deanna Troi after they left starfleet and had their daughter Kestra .and their backstory is what I've been wondering about since seeing the new previews a few weeks ago.

Nice to see neither person has changed even in the light of getting more screentime in the franchise. Both make me laugh.

She was originally up for the role a Tasha Yar BTW (no lie) - they switched the two just before filming started on the TNG pilot.

Marina Sirtis is hilarious. She just says whatever she thinks and I love that about her.

Sometimes it's a little too much, though. She once attacked someone at a convention for something his country was doing.

I seem to remember Sirtis having unkind words about "runaway" productions filming up here in Canada once upon a time.

That's nothing new to Star Trek - they mismatched Valeris' turtleneck and epaulet colors for her costume in STVI and didn't realize it until it was too late/too expensive to reshoot.

Well she must be happy that Picard isn't filmed in Canada :P

Well, at first she was cast as Tasha, and Crosby was Troi. You can see why. ;)

I believe Gene switched them at the last minute, IIRC.

OOPS. Someone already made this point. Forgive me.

To be fair, Troi sucked as a therapist. She never seemed to recognize the patient's real problems, nor to come up with reasonable solutions. Sure Barclay, you have a terrible phobia? Forget the Valium, just do some plexing!

And she pretty much sucked as an empath.

I liked her role as a contact specialist in the Titan series. Empathizing with species in first contact scenarios is probably more generally useful than telling the captain "This Romulan commander is concealing something."
