If I'm reading these spoilers correctly then Spoiler the Federation is indirectly responsible for stranding Spock in the Kelvin Timeline. If they had continued with evacuation, he wouldn't have needed to risk his life with red matter and the supernova. And Spock himself would have been aware of this. Elderly frail ambassador Spock was the only one who could smuggle in Red Matter from Vulcan and save Romulus. He made an uncharacteristic promise to the Romulans to save them because he felt guilty about the Federation abandoning them. That's how we got the unlikely situation of an old half-Vulcan being the only one trying to save Romulus.
Spoiler I read the comics and there's nothing in it that contradicts the spoilers. If anything, it clarifies why the comic takes place in 2385 when the supernova happens in 2387. All the comics so far take place pre-synth attack.
Spoiler Yeah, but in the comic the Romulans that hijack his ship say that they don't think the fleet is a rescue fleet
Spoiler And that will probably be resolved next issue and forgotten the moment the synth attack happens. Plus the Romulans aren't even in coordination--that was a local vain governor and they had those Tal Shiar defectors who believed Picard was helping. They're not seemingly putting essential info into this comic. Otherwise the synth attack would have been in it.
Since the Borg cube is basically a rehabilitation centre for ex Borg, is that where 7 current resides? As a worker/scientist like Hugh. Perhaps even in charge of the whole operation? That would make sense she would ask Picard why he was there. Anyway, how was Dahj killed and who by? (Sorry if already answered).
@Crewman6, if you’re not tired of us yes, I’ve got a couple more for you. Do we see any Romulan ships in the first three episodes? And do we get a good look at La Sirena? Or is it more Discovery-style, dark and blurry?
Spoiler Haven't read the comic, but this seems to jibe with a suggestion in the series that the Tal Shiar may have had a hand in the synth attack.
Spoiler We don't see Seven on the cube. I would guess no, based on what we see of her in the trailers and what the cube looks like. As to your second question, Dahj is killed by the secret Romulan commandos who infiltrate Earth. She dies in the fight scene glimpsed in the trailers which is outside Starfleet HQ and her death is witnessed by Picard.
Spoiler There is a flashback scene with Picard and Rizzo. It's right after Picard resigned from Starfleet and he explains what happened, re: Starfleet turning its back on the rescue fleet plan.
The spoilers are from the first three. Which is why I'm still spoiler tagging everything. And I'm only answering questions, not writing episode synopses. I honestly can't remember where each episode began and ended anyway. So, as always, click spoiler at your own risk.
Look, I don't think the show is perfect. I think it has some problems and you identified one of them. I don't quite buy that sequence of events.
IIRC, in the 2009 Countdown comic, the Federation Council debated for way too long whether to give the Romulans their Red Matter, which can be used as a heavy WMD of course, and ultimately decided not to. That's why Spock did it by himself, and was too late for Romulus, and why Nero hates the whole Federation in STXI. Seems that sill kinda fits with PIC then.
