Nah, then I'd have to make it 01x01.

Little early, isn’t it? We’ll have folks rating it poor before the week is over.

Ah, I misread where somebody said they were attending a premiere next Wednesday. Still, it's up now.

I got to give CBS credit. They really are going all in on this prank pretending the show is still happening even when Midnight Edge proved it was cancelled 12 months ago.

^ No. They did this with the last few episodes of Discovery too. Not releasing any episode info.

So, anyway, Star Trek: The Next Generation is my favorite TV show of all time, so I'm pretty excited about this new one. It's the first show I've been excited about in a long time. If you had told me in 1994 that TNG would be back on TV, I don't know what I would have thought, yet here we are, the 2020s and Picard is back. I entertained the possibility of a "season 8" on Netflix a few years ago but this post-starfleet Picard looks better. And amazingly, it looks like it's doing what couldn't be done in the movies since they came so close off the heels of the show.

So, what do we know so far?
    • Though this isn't yet canon, it's been speculated that the show takes place in 2399, making Picard 94 years old and setting the show 4 years after the future depicted in "All Good Things…", assuming that the episode took place in 2395. Who knows, maybe we'll get to see 25th century Trek after all, and with the TNG crew no less.
    • Picard has left Starfleet and is haunted by something that happened in his past and possibly around the time that he left. The destuction of Romulus is said to play a part in the story, but what else happened?
    • The Romulans, the Borg, what appears to be an army of androids and something that happened on (or to) Mars are all pieces of the show's puzzle.
    • Picard will have a new crew, comprosed of mainly mercenaries as he sets out on a mission to protect a girl who needs his help. Her name is Dahj, but who she is, what she is and what trouble she's in remains to be seen.
    • Data, Seven of Nine, Riker, Troi and Hugh the Borg will be back. Will Seven go by her given name? Will Data be resurrected from the dead? And speaking of Data, it looks like they've been struggling to make Spiner look like he did a couple of decades ago. Why not "deep fake" him? Some of that stuff is amazingly good.
    • Will we ever see Avery Brooks return as Benjamin Sisko? Probably not, but it's pretty clear that Jake is ready to take his dad's place:

Unfortunately, I probably won't be joining you folks for the first episode. I may just take the opportunity to wait until the season is over so that I can binge watch everything in one or two sittings. They say it's like a 10-hour movie, so maybe I'll test that out.

You've got more discipline than I do.

I'd never be able to wait 10 weeks to binge unless they just decided to release everything at once and they didn't give me a choice.

My guess for the first episode title is 'Meeting at Closepoint'. Episode 2 will be 'The Naked Later'

Next Wednesday can’t come quick enough for me. The long travel to and from London will feel completely worth it, once I see the first shot of the first episode!

Just out of curiosity, how many episodes did they are of Discovery during its premiere for press, etc? I remember originally thinking it had just been the first two, but I have a feeling it was actually the first 3, because I remember some reviewers talking about Lorca and co.?

Wonder how many Picard’s they will be showing.

I can tell you that right now: No.

The Borg are too much a part of her identity. She hasn't been "Annika" since she was a child. Why would she go back to that?

If nothing else, he seems to be having quite the Afterlife. ;)

I think being able to discuss every aspect of the most recent installment is the main advantage of weekly episodes. With binge watching though, everything can be fresher and flow better. A lot of people have said that Stargate Universe worked better that way. Either is good. Depends what you want.

Depends how much she's been humanized over the last 20 years and what they're going for with this show. You could argue that Seven being so Borg-like during Voyager's run was a gimmick as much as it was about the character having lived as a Borg drone. Looks like they've already changed her. How much? Who knows.

It'll be nice to see him either way. If he remains nothing more than a dream, it could be sad but sweet.
