News Brent Spiner Returned for "Picard" (and you could do the CGI better in 15 minutes, we get it)

looks like they have dialed back the digital face smoothing, but seems like they can't do anything about Spiners cheeks.
Yeah, apparently those are just Spiner's cheeks. I originally thought that they looked bigger than his do normally, but they pretty much look the same in the unaltered shots.

The least altered version actually looks the best. Sure, in the others they have smoothed his skin more, but they have overdone it in certain areas, like his jaw and lips, making the face lose definition and seem balloony and the mouth small.

He was pink during tests... XD

Why use untouched footage now if the effects were done already in July?

They only retouched the short trailer sequence where Data says "I can see that, Captain". The shot in the new tv spot is from a different take where Data has a different expression.

He doesn't look that old, not as old as he looked in Nemesis. I think there is still some make-up/de-aging going on, much less so than in other trailers. And it's for the better.

Maybe there are three Data's
Data, Lore and B4 and there might be 4th when someone goes through Soong's old storage.

On the topic, has anyone else thought that perhaps Data could have a program in him that makes him more human, his appearance changes over the years. It's not very human to look always the same.

What if Data decides to go with a more human look?
He changes his skin color to match Soong?
There would be no need for the white facepaint.
Older Data look, caucasian skin with wrinkles.

I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that he was programed to look like he was again. I think it was from one of the episodes, and not from a book.

In the books Data eventually comes back in a new completely human looking body.

Geordi says in Inheritance that he can age in appearance

Nemesis is the worst one. Always has been.

I didn't like Nemesis, but it was better than Insurrection. If only for that the action was better and the Son'a were a lame, shoehorned species and not believable as a legit threat (Yes, I'm aware that the Scimitar was too unbelievably powerful for any Alpha Quadrant ship).

I didn't remember that.
Were the writers getting ready for the movies and planted explanation why Data would look older if the movies would go on for many years? :)

She's a beta quadrant ship ;)

Probably! They were smart and planned ahead when it became clear they had a hit that might go on for years...

I meant Data's make-up. Yes, agree the movie was better than Insurrection, but it was not a high bar to clear.

No. Insurrection is a mediocre TNG episode with a modest movie budget, and that's fine as even mediocre TNG episodes are still pretty good. Nemesis on the other hand is an embarrassingly bad action movie and was easily the worst Trek film before Abrams wanted to have a go.
