It just hit me what the Kite ships are! They’re units of the Mars Defense Perimeter! Maybe they’re automated and got hacked, or they’re crewed and were taken over? That’s definitely a Federation base of some sort they’re attacking...

The place with the blue skies, Romulans Only bars and cool swordfights and futuro-soccer seems to have twin stars in the introductory shot of the bay (unless that's lens flare), so it's not what Mars currently looks like from the surface.

The show won't be ruined one bit if Brent doesn't look the way he did in 2005. It's a television show made in 2019 with crusty old actors reprising old roles. Just roll with it, it's close enough.

I'm guessing Ten Forward is a completely new build? I know parts of the set survived long enough to be used in "These Are The Voyages" but I'd imagine they've long since been binned?
