Survivor: Island of the Idols

I don’t think it’s fair to hold against Lauren for having her own view of Dan. You can’t tell women how to feel.
Wow, Dan apparently just can't help himself. I'm shocked but not shocked

Makes you think that he's gotten away with his creepy bullshit quite a bit in his life back home
Lauren was quick to dismiss the other women's complaints and decided that if it wasn't a problem for her, it wasn't a problem, period.

I've been in their shoes, having encountered a Dan-type of person at one of the annual science fiction conventions I attended in Calgary. He'd go around all weekend, rubbing and 'massaging' women, whether they wanted it or not. I told him twice that I didn't want him to touch me, and the third time happened to be on the mezzanine in a crowd of people. So I said, "I've told you TWICE BEFORE not to touch me. STOP IT."

He whined that "nobody else minds" and I said that's not the point. The point is that I mind, told him that, and he didn't listen. I guess he must have realized that con security wasn't far away, and if I complained to them, they'd have thrown him out.

You should've called security and had his ass turfed, fuck that guy
You're right, I should have. I understand that now, after many years have passed, and have mentally kicked myself for not realizing it then.

However, this happened in the late '80s and I was still learning how to stand up for myself after a lifetime of living in a family where I was told that "it's a man's world" and women aren't supposed to complain. It was quite a revelation to get out into the world beyond home and school, and learn that what I'd been programmed to believe just wasn't true (well, most of it; basic manners of 'please', 'thank you', and 'excuse me' are always true, in my opinion).

I'm better at standing up for myself now, and advocating for others. It's still an ongoing learning experience.

People like Dan are awful and he deserved to be ejected from the game, I just think that we shouldn't jump to conclusions about Lauren's body of knowledge at the time and her motives for her actions.

I wouldn't be very excited for a Lauren win because of her role in the Dan stuff. She wasn't on the level of Missy or Elizabeth, but she too was a Dan defender, and basically said she knew that Dan was making some women uncomfortable, but didn't care about it because he wasn't make HER uncomfortable. I was a bit soured on her after that. Actually, I hadn't much liked her before that either, as she had made some very rude comments about Karishma and Elaine, saying that she wasn't worried about them because they were basically too stupid to make any real game moves. It struck me as a petty, popular-clique type of attitude.

The above sums up my feelings about Lauren. I would prefer any of the other remaining players to win over Lauren.

So someone has to personally experience sexual harassment to know that it's wrong?

Per People, it was done on a boat after the immunity challenge:
https://people.com/tv/why-survivor-contestant-dan-spilo-removed-from-game/
PEOPLE has spoken to multiple people involved with the show’s production, who confirmed that the incident in question — which involved a member of the show’s production team — happened after an immunity challenge as Spilo and other contestants were getting into a boat to transport them back to the camp.

At one point, Spilo allegedly touched the female crew member’s leg. According to multiple sources, he insisted that the contact was inadvertent and accidental as he lost his balance while trying to get into the boat. At least one of the remaining contestants witnessed the incident.

But the show’s production team wasn’t convinced that the contact was merely incidental. After consulting with the show’s legal team, producers eventually decided to remove him from the show.

Sources tell PEOPLE that Spilo vehemently disagreed with the decision to remove him from the game.

I'm glad this sorry season is almost over. It's been a trainwreck. I wonder if they brought in Sandra and rob to distract from the most boring cast ever assembled.

That would have been against the rules that govern game shows (which Survivor is). Just like Jeopardy! or Family Feud, they can't make up new rules partway through. The "idol" concept was decided already. They just had the misfortune of casting people who turned out to be obnoxious and boring.

Of course not, and that's an unfair interpretation of what I said.

You can’t pass summary judgment on someone based on how they reacted in the moment with a different body of information than you had and the pressure of cameras on them.

From her perspective at the time, there's no way to know if she had enough information to fully be certain sexual harassment had occurred. Maybe she considered him innocent until proven guilty when aware her words could harm him outside the game.

Okay, that was bullshit.

An Idol Nullifier should only have power up until the Top 6.

Janet is the only person who was left in the game who actually deserved to win it.

Not a lot to say about the reunion other than "bravo Kellee" and "you redeemed yourself, Jeff".

With next season upping the prize ante and bringing back former winners, I looked up the full group of contestants and the people piquing my interest right off the bat are Sandra, Rob and Amber, Sarah, Tony, Natalie, Wendall, and my fellow Utahn Tyson.

The cast for next season:

I'm excited. Only a couple I don't immediately remember. Only a few early winners who I would have included that didn't make it (Todd, Brian, Vecepia, Vanuatu Chris, Tom), pretty much everyone I would have included got included.

Natalie
Tyson
Danni
Sophie
Jeremy
Sandra
Ben
Michele
Wendell
Adam
Yul
Sarah
Amber
Rob
Parvati
Kim
Denise
Tony
Nick
Ethan

The spoiler above has the list.

Disappointed Cochran isn't there.

Finale was a lame ending to a lame season. I guess the winner was the best of the 3 but that has to be one of the most disappointing final 3

I meant a link to where the list came from. I don't recognize most of those names, but could probably remember more of them if I saw photos. I didn't see all the seasons and some of the people just weren't memorable to me.

Thank you! :)

Okay, Kim will be one of the final 3. She's one of the best manipulators I've ever seen on this show.

I don't remember at least a third of these people.
