I'm not so sure. The big criticism of Smoke is that he has no backstory. In fact his background is so blank there are no facts to conflict with any skills seen. The Emperor works the same way, all skills are assumed to have been gained legitimately in this mysterious past.
I believe that the point was not that Snoke hasn't been criticized by fans, but rather that there has been far greater hostility directed at Rey, and that therefore the vitriolic hatred from fans can't be because of the stated reasons, which are that there's a character whose great powers haven't been explained.

Thank you.

From CBR-- "The Mandalorian's Baby Yoda further exposes fandoms 'Mary Sue' hypocrisy."

It’s not hypocrisy, it’s sexism. They just deny it and make convoluted excuses to justify their sexism.

Maybe Baby Yoda is a girl?;)
He’s been referred to as a male in the most recent episode, maybe because some diapers have been changed at some point. But we don’t know Baby Yoda’s gender identity yet, so they could still give the toxic fanboys a stroke if they really wanted to.

They have already started to turn on the show. There were a few idiots upset about Cara Dune.

She’s not. There’s no such thing as someone being more or less power in the Force. It’s all about the Force and the will of the user.

Rey just does things that Luke never chose to do.

O that's been established that some people are naturally stronger in the force due to more midichlorians.

That's why Anakin and his offspring were special and likely why baby Yoda is special.

Also why it's a disappointment that reys parents are "nobodies" as someone with her ability should have some sort of pedigree.

I do kinda like rey as a character but like Luke and other strong force wielders I find the background lacking.

Can’t believe a couple posters suggested Kylo isn’t strong in the force. He literally stops and holds a blaster bolt in his opening scene. Pretty sure that demonstrates his power.

One magic trick doesn't make a great jedi.

Kylo is too unstable and inconsistent and has weaknesses in his light sabre skills.

Even Finn nearly held his own for a few minutes in the force awakens and rey untrained nearly kicked his emo arse.

Did they ever cement who Anakin's father was?

I think it is heavily implied that he is Darth plaguis and Darth sidious attempt to create life from midichlorians.
That speech he gave to anakin in revenge of the Sith I the theatre coupled with his "virgin" birth somewhat points to this.

I vaguely remember that.

At the same time, there has to be times where the midichlorians attaching to someone who isn’t related to another Force user. Or else all Force users would need to be related.

They do. It can occur as random mutations.

But for someone as strong as Anakin who was off the charts, there was obviously more to it.
The Skywalker dynasty is special due to that fact.

It might even be why the jedi had there no marriage and children rule. Not only because of attachments but the problems a super powerful force wielder could bring if selectively bred.
