I like it! So out there it went around and came back in the other direction!

It looks like the kind of hot-rod a trillionaire like Carter Winston would have flown around in.

(If Carter Winston had lived to the mid-twenty-fourth century.)

(And wasn't someone whose canonical existence was considered iffy at best.) ;)

Ohh, I like this! Any idea on mission profile or backstory, or just making cool shapes? ;)

Also, at first I thought "that's too small to be a Constitution secondary hull", but I checked and no, it's actually to scale. The sheer size of the Galaxy continues to take me by surprise.

It's a warp engine test platform... with just enough support systems to give an engine a few minutes at warp speed prior to installation. And two, smaller warp engines to guide the whole thing back in case of an abort.

No wait! It's an engine delivery vehicle. Sometimes a ship is repaired or built in remote locations and this support vessel is used to deliver discrete parts that are manufactured on or in orbit of a major home world and then shipped out. Sometimes it can even power the new engine, using its own, smaller engines to counteract any instabilities caused by a single-engine Cochrane field.

    How's that?

    lol thanks mate!

no backstory, but it's titled "Something a bit out there..." because its not one of my normal type of ship, and a bit tame a design lol.

    All excellent ideas...love them :)

    thanks!

Love the idea, though I'm also thinking Matt Jeffries stuck the nacelles away from the rest of the ship for a reason.

Trek keeps forgetting that reason though...

Otherwise, this also looks like the 24th century version of a warp sled.

    One thing you might try.

Have one nacelle in front of an asteroid holding cage--and one behind--to open and close a warp bubble for huge loads.

The asteroid is surrounded by ringship segments.

In terms of off the wall designs...imagine two connies tail to tail--the nacelles and secondary hull cutt off at the same line. Two docked tail to tail. They fly "top" up, as in the novel "sidewarp" entry.
    Separate for lower speeds

Are those extra torpedo launchers on the sides or a pair of sensor packages?

This is a really fun design. Simple, but elegant. I like how you make these in markers, it looks so 80's retro.
