The tribble (or tribbles) brought back to the future

The recent Short Treks episode featuring the tribbles got me thinking; I wonder if the Defiant crew inadvertently brought the tribbles to the 24th century, or if one of the crew took a liking to one of the critters and stowed one away?

We saw that they did

I think Sisko allowed it, if only to annoy the Klingons a little. After all they broke the Kithomer Accords the year before.

The Klingons from their side are secretly grateful though, since now they can organise a new Great Tribble Hunt (and make songs about it).

For the life of me I can't think of a good in-universe reason for Quark to have one on his head. Perhaps it was some kind of kinky sex thing. Jason

There are already Tribbles alive in the 24th century, even before the Defiant brought some more along. We see one as a child's pet in Generations.

I'm thinking that particular tribble really wanted to be up there and kept climbing back up whenever Quark removed it, So Quark finally gave up.

Given how prodigiously Tribbles breed, it's inconceivable the Klingons eradicated them all. They must still exist in the Federation, even if they are controlled and neutered!

Did you not actually watch the episode?

The Tribbles don't live in the Federation, they're from the "Far reaches of the galaxy!" besides, the UFP wouldn't allow the Klingons to just "obliterate" one of their planets to kill a bunch of fuzzballs.

The Short Treks, for the first time, actually showed a tribble giving birth (several, in fact), and the technique is like a cork popping out of a wine bottle, with accompanying sound effect.

So, I reason that that tribble just popped out of its mother and landed on Quark's head, possibly from far away. And he's too exasperated to remove it. Luckily, Sisko is more competent than Lucero, and DS9 wasn't evacuated right after the episode.

The little girl from TNG season 1 (When The Bough Breaks) seems to have a Tribble plushie that she's given a braid to. She sticks it to Picard's back in the end-of-episode-everybody-laughs ending. :D

I hope they got it spayed AND neutered.

I'd like to see Klingons fighting Mogwais or Gremlins, that is.....:D :klingon:

The Great Gremlin Hunt - a song performed by Worf and Martok.

I did a double-take, I first thought the box was loaded with Tribbles that just ate a can of Folger's coffee beans. I'd say Maxwell House except I then couldn't say "Missed it by that much!"
